a wee mycorrhizal research place near where i live has had successfull fruiting of Lactarius deliciosus (sorry 'bout the spelling)on Pinus radiata that they innoculated. You can also buy pre-innoculated seedlings of a couple of species. If they can do it we can too. Maybe.

I saw a bit of the guys thesis on mycorrhizal mushrooms. I think the main factors effecting colonisation were phosphorus and other elements in the soil. But dont quote me on that. I will go and try to find it.

Have you considered taking clones and experimenting with climate conditions?

The slow growth could be caused by lots of conditions. I think most important in the growth substrate. I would probably experiment with that first, if I do. I do not have multiple growth chambers either.

You could leave everything in the same incubation chamber and experiment with pH.
