Atheist:
Because that's what I randomly decided to believe, despite a lack of proof.

what do you mean "lack of proof"? there is no proof of god to athiests, therefore there is no need to "prove" that he doesn't exist. you cannot prove a negative.

Yea, And its not really "randomly". Its default to most people to not believe something untill they see it.

Hence the phrase: "I'll believe that when I see it"

I know this is off topic... but,

I am an atheist because nothing has been proven to me. Obviously, nothing exists unless it has been proven. Pyronate this is where ur argument fails...
Atheist:

I deny the existence of god, becuase it has not been proven. Period. Its not random, but it is the lack of proof that makes me believe in nothing.

When people ask the question "why are you an atheist?" it is completely subjective, being atheist doesnt necesarily mean that you dont believe in more than meets the eye(of course some dont beleive in anything) but when you think about what we do know and experience as fact, like nature we know how patterns work, maybe god isnt a all mighty spirit, perhaps he is just as insignifigant as humans are, we look down to animals on a lower level, because they lack the capacity to be like us, and we also look down to plants because of the same thing, but they are living "things" just as much as the next but judging by how animals are its doubtful that they comprehend the fact that there is a higher conciousness(ie humans, arguably)so maybe we are like animals to a higher power. Everything is made up of some sort of smaller peice, and so on and so on, and we make up something bigger and bigger, and so on and so on, so is it really signifigant at all if there is a higher power, because we are infinitly important and infinitly insignifigant, we are gods and we are plants(of sorts)

Atheism is a faith, you are believing that you have the ability to determine whether or not there is a god.

Agnosticism is superior.

Engage brain before putting mouth in motion.

So until something has been absolutely proven, you believe it doesn't exist? That makes absolutely no fucking sense. Merely because something hasn't been proven to you doesn't mean it doesn't possess the POSSIBILITY of existing, it merely means you don't KNOW whether or not it exists. To deny the existence of something merely because its existence hasn't been proved to you is just as bad (if not worse) as proclaiming its existence.

In this case, ANY tangible evidence IS proof... it's different from saying "Dude, I've never met your girlfriend... therefore I refuse to believe that she exists until you prove it to me".

See the difference here?

I do see. But if that was what he meant, mattch1 would have had no reason to disagree with me.
