Perfect BRF to Vermiculite Ratio

Everyone has a different opinion on the perfect BRF to vermiculite ratio for PF jars. What do you guys think the best mix is? I have had a few problems with the 140ml verm to 40ml brf mix, maybe increasing the amount of BRF would help?. Just made five new spore syringes from prints I took myself and am about to make a bunch of new jars. Any tips would be much appreciated.

I recomend jsut following the PF tek. It never lead anyone wrong on brf/verm ratios.

Here is a link to a GREAT tek that my friend used successfully. It is basically the PF Tek, but it has good pictures and stuff. Anyway it has a calculator for mixing your substrate. It is basically 2 parts verm to 1 part each of BRF and water. This page of the TEK has the link.

using volume wont really work. there are fine and coarse vermiculties. at the same volume one will absorb much more water than the other. which kind of verm do you use?

The volume method worked for my friend perfect. He uses a coarser verm I guess. It comes in 10 quart bags.

I use horticultural vermiculite...
A 2-1 ratio sounds like it would be a good starting place. I think I will try that. I have been using a much lower brf ratio like 3.3-1. Maybe that is my problem. I think so anyway.

Go check out the FAQ at www.fungifun.org, it measures water content by the vermiculites ability to absorb water, it's much more accurate than adding a specified amount of water. Anno says he can get jars to colonize in 12 days using only the tin foil lids in the PF TEK for simple minds.
