Humdity for casing

A dog I know has wbs almost ready for casing using peat and coco coir. His terrarium is a 55 gal with 1 1/2 perlite on bottom. temp is at 70-74 and humidity is 96-100%. Does he want humidity this high throughout the grow or just for pinheads then drop the humidity to say 75-85%. Ive done some searching and read the faqs but to no avail.

don't be so worried.. it will be fine with high humidity.. you won't have to mist as much!!

if you can drop the humidity by a few notches then fine.. but not that big a deal.. as long as it's 80 % or higher.

If your stuff isn't contaminating and there's no overlay you don't have a problem. My roomate has problems with this, though (way too humid.)

If you start getting random patches of overlay (which often contaminate) or cobweb mold you need to lower it.

I always had it at about 75% and I've never had a problem with either.... You should notice if it's too dry before it's too late, but if you get cobweb, it can be a bitch to clean up. The casing should provide the humidity -- there's no need for cake-like conditions.

Just my opinion.

if the surface is dry and it needs it yes... otherwise no.
