Hey there,

The fruiting bodies do have nice color as they mature. I am curious also...what was your casing mix? Looks like you did them in that storage container you got at Ikea or something similar. Thanks for any information. Nice shrooms.... :mushroom2:

Anno,

Beautiful! Why do you think this strain produces so well on PF cakes cased? Those are probably the biggest flushes i've ever seen off PF cakes cased, i've had some huge ones in the past with the Amazon strain, but yours seem bigger. I realise you're a seasoned grower, but don't you think the strain has a lot to do with this also?

I added a casing layser over it, like on the container on the right side. This was just for demonstration that I put some casing material between the cakes.

40% coir, 40% Peat based potting soli, 10% vermiculite, 5% calcium carbonate, 5% crushed oystershells. Pasteurized in a microwave for 10 minutes at high.

The dimensions are as big that 6 cakes can fit into it.

Well, I?m sure the strain also contributes his part, but I?ve seen similar flushes with ecuador in the past also. I don?t have the yield, but I don?t think it?s THAT impressive.

It's not THAT impressive in a general aspect. But for PF cakes on a limited substrate it is impressive, to me anyway. If it were on a grain cased or a dung block spawned then that would be another thing.

Hey there,

What was the time frame between pictures where you are filling in around the cakes with casing mix (picture 1&2) and the big pins (picture 3) and then (pictures 4&5) the rest.

Best regards,

Wow, great results Anno. Skip was looking for the easiest casing method. This looks like it. way easier than using a food processor and grinding each cake.

What was the greatest wet weight per cake for the first flush?

The cake on the front right looks likes the winner.

WOW I have never seen it done this way before...GREAT IDEA!!!! It makes it so much eaiser...

however I would recommend (but you or others may disagree) that after the casing has colonized you should take it out of the box so it's a big mass of colonized casing so that you can get fruits growing not only from the top but also from the remaining (previously covered) 4 sides!!!! Wouldn't results be better that way?

But this post wasn't targeted at that...it was to show a new way of casing...but I just wanted to add my 2 cents

I just recently got some pan cyanescens spores and am going to try to grow them. I was just wondering what you personally used as your substrate for those.
