Ha! I just found some today! There they were growing in the wood chips right by the hose faucet. :grin:It has been 100+ degrees here and dry.

i doubt that you found morels in the summer in woodchips.
it is more likely that you found some type of false morel.

you should post a complete description and get some pictures if you can.

[edit: lest i forget, yuo should not ingest these mushrooms if theree is a possibility of them being a poisonous false morel.]

I have found morels in august before, (Iowa) that was weird as hell. I know they werent false too.
