uhhh riite. anyway yea i think music is alot like a drug. For me it has alot of the traits a drug has. But when both are combined i think thers nothing like it.

If music was a drug, and various chemical substances, then where would the line of a drug be drawn? A fan could be a drug, because if you are hot and you get cooled off by the fan, it might create a response similar to music. So you could use most things as an example.

well how would u fit tolerance, affinity, efficacy, Type of effect(antag. or agonistic) into this fan theory? I'm not trying to argue with u b\c no one (i think) has stated a concrete definition of a drug. But a fan or other physical stimulus which affects only the exterior body with no direct link/effect(on) with the bodies biochem shouldn't be considered a drug. The diff b\w a fan and say music is; Fan: the pleasure derived from it is not do to its "blowing " action on your skin but due to a return to equilibrium body temp, with out the discomfort of the excess heat no or very minimal pleasure is experienced. All it does is speed up your bodies natural process, it does not alter neurot, horm. or causes there release. if it did then certain signs characteristic with drug use would be seen, such as withdrawl, tolerance, addiction, od? and so on. However this is not seen b\c once your body moves back into it's standard temp the fan's effects diminish with no tolerance, w\d ..... These signs would be present if these types of examples(ie fans) were drugs or had drug like effects. Music is diff. since it does not stimulate the exterior body but the interior regions of the brain which are rich in nt such as endorphins and dopamine ( nucleus accumbens). It therefore has clear metabolic effects. Another diff is that these types of stimuli alter your body away form its biochem equilb. causing it(body) to try and readjust back, this self-adjusting/alteration of its metabolic activies is what causes w\d, as well as addiction. A study of devoted runners/joggers was done in which the first q asked was why they ran,(they were unaware of the studies purpose in studying the addictive effects of endorph) nearly all replied that they were addicted to running(not exact wording but all included the term "addicted") The participants reported lower energy, poor mood, and depressive symptoms when they could not perform the activity. Well my wrists are killing me so i guess thats it for me today.
(don't feel like rereading or spellchecking so u have to put up with it)
