Why shouldn't you trip to much.
    #1742194 - 07/23/03 08:28 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

Is there a medical reason as to why not to trip so often, or is it just to keep the magic, that comes with taking the sacred shroom.

For me it's the magic. I've already rolled too much where it aint even special anymore.

I've tripped bout 5 times this year.

edit
and like Johnny said... because of tolerance

I read that it is wise to only trip about 4 times a year but it did not give a reason, and I wondered if there was a medical reason like you would go insane if you did it to much. Which seems possible while your on you trip because you think you have gone insane while your tripping.

It'll effect how you perceive reality when your not tripping and that can be bad...or good, depending on your perspective. In general "trippers' those who trip quite regularily for awhile are more withdrawn and antisocial, less likely to "fit in" with normal people. Thats my experience anyways..

Tripping all the time is not good if you want to keep some kind of relative sanity and some kind of grip on social consensus reality.

Tripping too much will turn you into a weird old man.
I'm sure everybody has come across at least one or two of these.
Ugh.

You can trip as much as you want, no rule in saying you can't. Trip 4 or 5 times a week if you want... but after that you'll soon find that you there's only so much tripping you can tolerate. You'll become board with the trips and burn your mind and emotions out. Tripping in moderation will keep the magic in your trips. I used to think tripping twice a week great... then once a week, then twice a month, then onve a month... now it's down to like 1 every few months.

Hm. There used to be a bum that lived over in a ghetto not far from my friends house, and he'd taken WAYY too much acid in his life time. He was completely perma-fried and crazy, thought he was Jimi Hendrix. Looked just like him too. So his name was Hendrix, and he always had something really crazy to say or ramble about. Heard he died a while back though, somehow I wouldn't be surprised if it was some freak accident..

I'm not going to be the first or the last to say this but, moderation is key!!!

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.---senior doobie

and he'd taken WAYY too much acid in his life time

I don't think the acid will have been too important. Mental illness and alcohol abuse are a more likely explanation than taking too much acid. John Lennon took over a thousand trips.

How do you explain Ram Dass? I absolutely believe acid (or mushrooms) can change your perception of life...if you trip not so often...this perception fades, but if you trip often it most certainly gives you a different perspective on how to live life, and different priorities...at least i think..

It doesnt change it permanently, but it stimulates area's which are less commonly used and can cause a great change in how one perceives reality permanently. From an acidheads view living without money in a loghome in the wood's is really living (look at oregon!), Where as a "normal" person would see this as a cop out for living and couldnt understand it, it takes away that drive for "success" because the acidhead realizes its all superficial BS, it can drive them a bit off the deep end from a normals perspective. Point being, it can permanently change your brain, it can fill you with such passion for unconventional things that you are nothing but weird. (and thats ok...for some)...It really depends on your priorities in life.

Im the guy that wants the log cabin, and to be self sufficient..

I always hear about people going crazy off of acid, but never off of magical mushrooms. Why is this?

hm... yeah, I'm wierd and withdrawn and antisocial, and pdu started to make me think it was because I trip too much (this past year I've tripped a dozen times) but then I realized that I was an antisocial wierdo before. Maybe thats why I gravitate toward hallucinogens, to change my perception of a world that never satisfied me.

How do you explain Ram Dass?

What do you mean? Ram isn't living on the streets is he? I thought he was a highly successful author?
