Yea I bought mostly at 32 an ounce still waiting to break even however I try to think of silver as insurance against a corrupt banking system so by holding it I am giving the banksters the proverbial finger.

My girlfriend and I bought in around 23.00 although paid closer to 25 after fee's. I bought twice as much as her, but she's got money now and I am trying to get her to buy more, but she is hesitant because it's not climbing.
Although i don't know much, i do have faith that my investment will pay off well in the future, although i am uncertain of the timeline. She seems harder to convince!
It is such an irrational train of thought to think of cash in the bank as "safe and smart." Although I see where she's coming from.
Maybe one day i'll turn in a decent return and retort with a "toldja so!"

Some encouraging action in the beaten up precious metals market, we have silver breaking out of its range and is trading at $21.88 and gold at $1336, both metals have broken the 50 DMA.
We also have a breakout in the Dow/Gold, Dow/Silver, Gold/Silver, Dow/GDX (gold miners), and GDX/Gold ratios, all the ratios have broken the 50 DMA's, and some are now approaching their 200 DMA's.
Why this move has happened is inconclusive, but either way it is happening. If this is a real breakout of a 2 to 2.5 year correction, then we have something, time will tell.

Sure, time will tell.
But like, in all honesty, silver gives SOME security..
But in all end of the world schemes( unless warewolves and zombies take over) silver is really NOT that useful, except as a possible antibacterial.
COPPER is MUCH more valuable in an "end of the world " scenario.
Anyone beg to differ?

Yeah, good move investing money into copper. One small problem, you go to the grocery store, your bill is equal to lets say $90 but dollars are no good anymore so you reach into your pocket to get some copper to pay. And you pull out 20+ lb of copper. Do you see any problem with that? Ok, your car needs repairs and we know how they gouge you so your bill is $800. You reach into your pocket and pull out a couple hundred pounds of copper and they put it in the till. I don't think so.
The trouble with copper and to a lesser extent with silver is the bulk and weight. You don't want to pull out 10 lb of silver to pay a big bill even though that is more doable than with copper. If you have a secure storage area the copper thing sounds good. Or own part of a copper mine. You will want gold for the compactness, some silver for smaller purchases and perhaps copper for small change. If someone tries to pay your wages in copper you are going to be mad because you will break your back carrying it. I quit putting silver in safe deposit because of the bulk and weight. Gold is heavy enough although it fits in safe deposit without costing a fortune per year but hiding the silver becomes harder so i don't think i'll buy anymore silver.
People will steal aluminum out of your back yard and even break in to get it if you have a bunch. Aluminum is worth a lot less than copper so they will steal your copper unless you guard it well. Safe deposit is out of the question for copper. Aluminum is very useful perhaps as much as copper but you might as well invest in topsoil, its useful too but storing it is a nightmare.

Silver is dipping pretty hard right now. Might go down a bit yet.
You can do E-bay otherwise Apmex and Provident Metals are always good. You're not going to get ripped off there.

The past few days both gold and silver are moving downwards. I think the big news to watch is if the Fed will or will not continue to taper. If its announced that some amount of tapering will occur, you'll see PM's drop. If no tapering occurs, business as usual and I think you'll see PM's rise a bit. I guess we'll know in a few hours.
I'd love to see a sale on PM's. Just remember, never invest more than you're willing to loose.
As for online dealers, I like goldmart.com and providentmetals.com Apmex has a great variety but the premiums a bit high.

Looks like near term support and a bottom test are coming up at around $20. If it does fail at 20 support 18.26 is next and if that should fail yikes. But I really think 20 will hold based on the chart, but also doubt silver will spike again for a while. Will need to build a base and that's gonna take lots of time between 20-24.

You can find low premiums on Pre '64 U.S. coinage sometimes. Otherwise generic bullion like 1/5/10oz bars of .999 silver.
