 Loosening my lid?

I have reason to believe that the mycelium in some of my jars aren't growing as fast as the mycelium in the others jars b.c of improper oxygen flow. Some of my jars have larger holes then others. Do you think I will be able to get away with loosening my jars just a little bit to increase oxygen flow?!?! I am using the PFtek method...

It could be a lot of things, is it an MS? Are the jars packed with different tightness. Amount injected in each. ETC.

Do not loosen the lids. You need a surprisingly small hole to allow enough GE.
Why do you think your holes are too small?

If you inoculated your jars with spores, the reason they're colonizing at different speeds is probably just genetics; every spore has different genes and so has different attributes.

I believe I packed the jars with slower mycelium growth a little to much and that is why they are growing slower. I believe that if If I loosen my jars it will allow for some more air to come through while the Verm. Layer protects the substrate from possible contams... Am I correct?

B.c in some of them the needle had trouble going in.

I don't see why loosening a lid would cause a problem. But I also don't see how it would help unless you are basically loosening it enough to not sit in the threads at all but maybe rest on them.

You probably still have plenty of GE if you have 4 holes. It doesn't take much.
I'd just let them go. No matter what you do, don't loosen the lids. That would be asking for contams.

Yea I know, but the 4 holes I have are pretty small, barely enough for the needle to fit in and there is verm. blocking some of them... Idk if I should just leave them alone, loosen the lid or attempt to make the kid larger with a flamed heat knife or something....

Leave them alone. Loosening them or trying to make the holes bigger at this stage will ruin everything.

If your jars are over packed, loosening the lid won't help. Myc does not grow as well in tight places. Opening the lid won't loosen the cake.

If a needle fit through, the holes are big enough for GE. While loosening the lids may or may not help, they can be hard to get off, and if you disturb the dry verm layer while you're trying to loosen them, you could completely fuck that jar.
