Cauliflower mushroom or spring coral? The color is throwing me off and makes me wonder if its a spring coral....
Found at base of pine tree.

I found something similar in the South Bay - posted to MO and got a few people speculating. The observation has pics of two specimens, and there is a third that I've not checked on. Not sure if it is the same as yours. http://mushroomobserver.org/118754?q=uWGO

Sauté and freeze any you don't eat right away Slice... Sauté and eat on toast... Salt and pepper or herbs Holds up well in stews and soups
One of my favorite mushrooms.... If you go back next year, probably grow in the same place!

They are a lot easier to clean if you break the fruiting body down into smaller usable pieces. And yes its S. radicata on the west coast although there is some talk that it might be the same as S. crispa

No special recipe yet.... just made a wild mushroom soup and use some of the cauliflower (as well as a ton of dried and fresh porcinis)
Tomorrow going for tempura cauliflower mushroom, yum
