My controversial thoughts on the Elementary shooting today... * 16
    #17393396 -

I think about the visitation of violence and death upon children in the US today and I am saddened, not for the same reasons that everyone else is saddened.

My sadness comes from the realization that in many other nations there are children being tortured and slaughtered that none pay any attention to;

The child soldier bleeding out in the jungles of Africa is forgotten, the little girls who are
mutilated by circumcision are cast aside, the children in American ghettos catching stray bullets are deemed nothing more than an statistic.

Why do you think that these kids are any more important than the countless others who die around the globe? You might think that I am jerk who is trivializing a great tragedy, you are wrong, you are the jerk because you think that because I point out the deplorable state of the world that I am somehow detracting from the tragedy of today.

The world is a sickening place in many respects, you can hide away from the truly nasty stuff, and if it takes someone pointing out that today's shooting was just another disgusting moment in the horror show that we call the human experience, then you are truly a low human being if it takes something of this magnitude to draw you out of your social networking, self centered, "progressive" life, then you might actually see the world for what it is and find some semblance of drive to perhaps create change for the better.

Then so be it, this is my cry to the ignorant masses. You either wake up or give up.

This species makes me sick, I am tired of what we have become

You're right.

I really don't ever think about the other children all over the world facing deplorable conditions. Those who are starving and dying of diseases.

Honestly, I'd rather donate to an animal shelter.

I simply do not care.
Other peoples children are not my concern.

Of course when bad things happen, and they're on the news or whatnot, especially things like what happened today, it is sad. But any other day, I'm not thinking about those starving, dying children.

This makes me a bitch, I know, and I don't care about that either.

To assume you're the only person who feels this way and to be disgusted by others because of that assumption is a little ignorant, IMO.

A female circumcision is the removal of the clitoral hood.

But some cut off the clitoris and inner and outer labia.
Disgusting mutilation.

All of it is there all the time if you want to see it and know about it.  The fact that the media focuses on one event over another is just proof of how corrupt the media in fact has become and not an indictment of the human race.

We have a little way to go before we have to write off everyone.

There are people in the world who are in more pain than you, but that does not mean your pain does not matter.
I cannot help but to be sad when thinking about those innocent children who were killed and the mothers and fathers who no longer get to see their children. I have a 5 yr old little girl, it could have been her. I couldn't imagine losing my child, let alone like that.
I am also saddened when thinking of other unfortunate situations around the world, but some ask for it themselves, they continue to have children knowing they cannot provide or that they will ultimately get disease and die. For those people, I do not feel bad, I only feel bad for the children, they didn't ask for that.

i agree with the OP

people hear shit like this and are suddenly like omg this is awful and talk about how awful it is for 3 days until they inevitably forget about it

meanwhile in poorer areas of the country and even the world this shit happens all the time

people who today are like "this shit is awful" and like tries to take a stand are fucking hypocrites, sheep, and just looking for attention

this shit happens, you cant dwell on it, it sucks, but its really just another news story

i truly feel bad for the kids and the families, but unfortunately it happened and you cant dwell on it

i undertsand the analogy when people say "forks dont make people fat, guns dont kill people"

but ur so fucking wrong, guns do fucking kill people and you cant compare that to a fat person who uses a fork to eat, zero comparison there

the only real way to stop what just happened today, IS for more gun control

idk why people think guns are so cool, cuz they really arent...they just make you look like a tool unless ur using it for hunting or for actual protection

not like faggots who have guns and like show them off to people and try to make their small dicks look big

I haven't read through the 4 pages of this thread, but as a member of this forum, I want to express my horror and shock to all of you.

I love America as a nation, but I think you have a lot of hard questions to answer. Maybe now is the time to question your policy about firearms. I don't know. All I know is that this tragedy really hurt me today. But I haven't made this post to make a point.

It just hurts that always in the run up to Christmas, there are tragedies. To me, in my country this hurt.

I think about the visitation of violence and death upon children in the US today and I am saddened, not for the same reasons that everyone else is saddened.

My sadness comes from the realization that in many other nations there are children being tortured and slaughtered that none pay any attention to;

I was glad about the shooting for the same reasons. Mr Obama has ordered the murder of over 2,000 children in Pakistan through drone strikes. I feel good in my heart when a sample of this suffering comes back upon the people responsible for it.

A lot of those people voted for Mr Obama. And they all pay taxes to fund the war machine. They are directly responsible for foreign murders. What, would it have been morally better for them to vote for Romney? They are not directly responsible for foreign murders. None of those children voted, they were completely innocent and to say you feel good that those children died and others will undergo suffering their entire lives just because you're assuming their families somehow support foreign massacres, based upon no evidence whatsoever, is disgusting.

No. Romney like mr Obama is a member of the demo-republican party. There are no real differences between their policies. The only moral choice in my opinion is to cast a protest vote for a third party and withdraw your consent from the elected military-industrial-central banking cartel.

Mr Johnson earned my vote. I withdrew my consent from my government when I cast that vote too. You are correct that Mr Johnson would end foreign aid and correctly so, in fact he would keep our genocidal fingers out of other nations business where we have no business being at all. Since WW2 the USA has invaded or forcefully overthrown over 55 nations, many of them peaceful democracies. When you vote for a demo-republican candidate you are literally voting for third reich like policies, murder, and torture of poor and colored people, and oppression of all kinds worse than anything Hitler ever did.

In centuries past dictators extinguished more than 12% of our surface population and yet you didn't know that.  What is real?  I guess you need to go back to class and find out.

if all leaders are responsible for their wars (which in your statement, seems to be argued), then it doesnt matter who you vote for because all presidents and pms and elected leaders of countries involved in violent conflicts are (or would be as soon as they took in office) "killer(s) of innocent women and children"

is that a reason not to vote? if he voted for romney and addressed the recent shooting, he would have still have voted for a 'killer'.

whatever point you are trying to make about voting or the president's involvement in war or shooting, it is either weak. what is the point? how does voting for obama negate one's right to have emotions or opinions about the elementary school shooting? which it seems you are implying

im implying it's hypocritical to have feelings for this shooting but then go out and vote for obama who orders drone strikes that kill children all the time.

these people dont seem to have any sympathy for all the children who are killed by obama's orders, but boo fucking hoo when some american kids on TV are killed.

both are horrid, but some people chose not to see one of the two.

There is a crisis in mental health care in most of the world. Its expensive and people dont want to pay for it. What can you do anyway? Force meds down their throats? While i support better mental health treatment i disagree any amount of change in the mental health system is going to prevent these tradgedies. Every country is suffering from poor mental health care but the mentally ill guy living in a box and eating garbage in my country(canada) is not going to get hold of a gun and its like that pretty well everywhere but america. I could not aquire a black market gun if i tried and i know lots of criminals. To suggest a total nutbar can walk up to his neighbourhood black market gun dealer in Canada or the UK and buy a gun is ludacris. Illegal guns exist in those places but only among gangsters they wouldnt even sell you a gun to kill your wife because thats too much heat. No one cares about gang shootings but school shootings would put an illegal gun dealer out of business and in jail, and they know that.
Its pretty much impossible to prevent insane people from walking the streets because they have rights too, but its not that hard to stop them from getting guns.

I have seen many sayings over the past few days that fit this thread quite well.

"Gun laws would prevent shooting sprees? Please tell me more about how criminals follow laws."

"So making guns illegal will take them off the street? We should make heroin and meth illegal too!"

And this one so far is the best:

"If a madman wants to kill innocent people, he will find a way. Killers don't need guns to kill people.
Timothy McVeigh used fertilizer.
9-11 Terrorists used box-cutters and planes.
The Nazis used cynanide gas.

Taking guns from innocent people will not protect innocent people. The problem is not guns, it is a Godless society."

My controversial thought:  I am sorry for the people touched by this tragedy.  Now, my TV is going off for the next month so I don't have to look at Political Boobs with crocodile tears making poly points off the tragedy, or listen to the cornball music accompanied by sickeningly sweet, shallowly emotional and sentimental stories about how little Sally wanted to be an iced skater or little Joey wanted to be the president.  seriously, this kind of shit just drags out the misery for all involved.  Lets get on with life people.

"The president wiped tears from his eyes and took pauses to compose himself."

How about you at least word the sentence by yourself.

When I brought up the fact that his tears looked faked, I got a lot of animosity.  "You don't know because you're not a parent."  That may be true, but I do know how to spot really poor acting.

You have no idea who I am or WHAT the fuck I believe or do not believe in. That was a quote that had to do with the fact that people who want to kill will kill no matter what, guns or not. You however are another sheeple who thinks everything they say is right and everyone else is wrong, and if they don't think so, you resort to name calling to try and get your point across. You did it several times already. No one else had to name call but you. Funny though, you claimed children and teachers would not be hiding in corners and such but yet they would be running out the doors/windows and shit. UMM no, hiding in corners and under desks and such is exactly what these children and teachers DID do. It is the typical process when something like this happens and a school goes on lock down. How old ARE you?? Btw, I'm not Christian, try again.

Actually, they'll probably just use a gun since they'll be able to buy them from the time the learn to speak since they will be illegal and available to anyone who wants one.

I just made the post asking for answers to prove a point, that there are none.  All this guy does is argue with misinformation, call people names, and declare himself the winner.  He sounds a lot like a real life Eric Cartman.

How would it work? Identity confirming technology on guns to ensure only the registered owner can fire them. That would prevent people from getting unregistered firearms in the future. Tracking devices placed in guns so that any stolen/ black market guns are easily locatable. It wouldn't stop all murders of course, no one claims that. We don't need to get rid of the millions of guns in the country but we could require regular check ups for gun owners to ensure that they are still mentally stable, still keep track of their own firearms and all old firearms could have these newer technologies installed in them.

Gun control makes sense and is already in place. Requiring registration is gun control.

A regulated militia as in an ORGANIZED militia. I'm done with this, a child could understand this but you are too absorbed in the libtard drum circle idiocy to understand how freedom works. You even take for granted that people who are armed are what keep you from being harmed or possibly killed like police, retired vets, military, and citizens exercising their rights and responsibilities to defend their own lives.

LOL, right. And not like they don't control alot of things but people still get them. Hell when they started "controling" sudafed and such did they really think it would work? My mother in law used to make meth and she would just have a bunch of people go to diff stores and buy/steal whatever they could. Same with the matches and the denatured alcohol. So them "controling things" don't mean jack. NTM if a person really wanted a gun, it's called the internet, make one. :tongue2:

Sarcasm.  Yep.  You're arguing with someone who agrees with you.

Noooo I wasn't arguing! I was agreeing lol  Sorry if it came off the wrong way :/

I wish some of these gun control people could answer my simple questions.

How would it work?

How would it prevent people from getting their hands on guns?

How would it stop murderers from murdering people?

How would it get rid of the millions and millions of guns already in the country?

How would it stop anyone from doing anything?

Please, I'm desperate to understand how you people think this will/would work?

Yeah, that will work.  I'm sure of it.  We'll just put a GPS on every gun in existence.  Come on.  What planet are you living on?  Where would this money come from?  What would stop the importation of non-GPS guns that will be sold on the enormous black market these laws would create.

You know, your heart is in the right place.  No one wants innocent people to be killed except the people who kill innocent people.  Unless you can eliminate them you can't make any progress.  We've been killing each other since we learned we could.

Also, this isn't James Bond.  If there is such a technology that would only allow the registered owner to fire his/her gun it's top secret and incredibly expensive.  Who is gonna pay for all this GPS tech?  Will they have to pay a service charge for each gun connected to a satellite? Who is gonna pay to inspect people to see if they're mentally stable?  What is mentally stable?  I bet Ted Bundy could have passed the test.

These are fantasy ideas.  They wouldn't work anyway.  GPS on black market guns?  Since when is the information needed to create a gun secret?  Why would a criminal looking for a profit follow the law and place such a device on his product?

I could go on but I won't.  The questions I posted have no real answer, and that's the point.  There is no way to prevent murder, whether by gun or any other means.

It's not controversial, it's a child-like fantasy.  I'm not insulting you.  You have a right to your opinions.  I'm sorry but having some gun gestapo invading innocent peoples homes to check their mental health is so far from freedom it's called totalitarianism.

Is it totalitarianism that you need a physical to get your drivers license?

Honestly none of the technologies I proposed are that expensive. GPS tracking devices are incredibly cheap these days and there are already guns out there with identity recognition technology. Hell, my laptop has fingerprint recognition and you think putting that on guns is out of the question? Do you even realize the incredible profits that gun companies and their lobbyists make? You think they can't reduce that by a tiny chunk to help keep guns in the hands of their rightful owners?

It's not a child-like fantasy. That's incredibly condescending. I'm talking about technologies that are readily available in cell phones and laptops and that are becoming cheaper by the day. There's no reason these can't be implemented in all guns that are produced from now on. Even that small change would reduce the ease with which psychopaths could access guns.

Yes, it does matter. With an automatic rifle they can kill an incredible number of people within seconds. When they only have a knife, the number is incredibly increased and law enforcement can take them out immediately instead of waiting around outside for some sort of opportunity while a shooter is killing more and more people. The difference is the number of innocents killed.

 For real. The argument that the right to bear arms is to protect citizens from a tyrannical government in this day in age is hilarious. The government has drones, tanks, explosives, nuclear weaponry and some people think that having even an assault rifle is going to protect them against that?

So far, I agree that it would be beneficial to place some sort of restriction on guns, whether it be a psychology test, or whatnot.

But believing that any of these things would work, is just childish.
Nothing you can implement, would ever stop someone who wants a gun, from getting a gun.
This is the same thing as saying that if you restricted crack cocaine, nobody could get crack cocaine.

If someone has the will to kill many, they don't even need a gun. Bombs can be made with supplies from hardware stores.
Pipe bombs are made with 3 pieces of threaded metal pipe, a cylinder (threaded on both ended) and 2 screw on caps.
Drill one hole, fill with gun powder or other explosive, jam a firecracker wick into the hole. Finished.
Just the shrapnel alone will kill many, the blast it's self will kill a few as well.

Nothing we restrict or try to control will stop a psycho from being a psycho.

I dont think either should be banned.

You should just have to go through stricter evaluations to get an assault rifle.

I agree with you 100%. I have felt this way every shooting since I've been old enough to know about the outside world.

North Korea - Children of the Secret State

These children are/were just as innocent as the children murdered in Sandy Hook. People don't seem to care so much though. They're always in awe, totally shocked by seeing the things humans are capable of when they see these shootings. These shootings are minor, though. I don't mean to minimize the suffering of everyone involved. That is real. However, if someone were to look at the things that hundreds of thousands of North Koreans have been and are being subjected to, they wouldn't be in shock after these shootings. These reactions are especially sad in that they are a reminder that nobody cares. Nobody is paying attention to the suffering occurring every day. This is what causes me to become disheartened more than the acts themselves.

even the most advanced government with all its gizmos and doodads could NOT survive 360 degree asymmetrical warfare against the largest standing army in the world (armed US citizens).

It is far from hilarious. 300 million guns in the hands of 150 million trained shooters is an extremely formidable adversary.

I could make a ballistic knife at work, with basic machine tools, no problem. It would be totally silent, and lethal. I could make thermite and cause havoc at will with some very simple tools.
