Grafted M. luethyi on Myrtillocactus geometrizans

I was wondering if anyone knew what this is? I'm guessing its a fungal and I'm leaving it allow for now since it's not spreading or getting worse. You guys think I should cut it away?

Not sure if anyone on here knows the answer to this. If I were to graft a tubercle from my luethyi; would I need to graft it from near the base or could I just use the tip (white spines)? Mammillaria don't pup from the tip so this is way I ask.

I'm not too familiar with Mamms and their pupping habits but if they pup just below the areole then cut just below where you think it pups from. Otherwise do Two of each.

Also that does kind of look like rot. The red near the graft union is a little worrying.

I went ahead with the surgery and it was needed. The infection reached the vascular ring however there seems to be enough healthy tissue to save the M. luethyi. If the main graft fails at least the offset should be safe.

Well, I was hiking today and found about 10 different clusters scattered down a hillside. I'm not sure, but I think the species is prolifera..

after some googling i believe those are a Mammillaria heyderi sp.

Edit: either that or maybe a Coryphantha sp. like Coryphantha vivipara

Winter is being quite mild after a brief cold spell. This M. hahniana got confused. Usually flowers for me consistently in March.

These are beautiful. I could never get mine to flower. My first cacti were mammillarias and they all died of rot before one year could even roll around

Now that I have two San Pedro in dormancy(I hope) and have been able to keep them alie since summer with each gaining about three inches in height! I may buy one of these little guys and try my hand again once spring rolls around

As with everything, caring for cacti, keeping them alive and eventually making them thrive takes a little learning. Not much, but still something. I'm quite sure you now have the skills and patience needed to grow most species, and most Mammillaria fall in the "dead easy" category. Good luck and keep us posted.
