 still can't trip

i ate an 8th of shrooms last night with no effects. i was convinced that the reason i hadn't tripped in the past was because i was taking effexor. so i quit the effexor for 7 days and still got no effects. is this still the effexor? i have one 8th of shrooms left, when should i take them or should i just sell them and give up shrooms since they dont seem to work for me? i desperately want to have a psychedelic experience, is there any way i can? like would LSD work or does the fact that i can't trip on shrooms mean i can't trip on any convential hallucinogen? please help. btw, i know the shrooms weren't bad cause other people tripped on them.

It has been a while since I read up on effexor, but if I remember correctly, it can hang out in the body for up to two weeks after you stop taking it. Even after that your brain chemistry may be wacked for a while.
There are many reasons why you might not trip when eating shrooms. Here are a few simple questions:
1) how long before you ate the shrooms did you eat your last meal.
- full stomach reduces the speed that the mushrooms get digested, which may dim or negate the effects
- empty stomach may be 'sleeping' and need just a small bite of something fatty (milk, cheese, butter, etc) to kick start the digestive process.
2) are the shrooms good? Were they stored/prepared properly?
- bad shrooms = no trip
- poorly stored shrooms = no trip
3) did you eat them all at once or space it out?
- all at once, good
- spread out, bad
my observations are that your initial dosage is what you get. If you nibble a little bit, wait an hour and then down a large bucket, you will feel next to nothing... well, at least for me... 
4) Are you taking any medications or other drugs (alcohol/tabaco)?
- shrooms alone are by far the best
- shrooms with cannabis is always good, but stronger
- shrooms with alcohol doesn't mix well for me, others have no problems
- shrooms with toboco doesn't mix well for me, no data from others
5) How much do you weigh? Body weight matters.
- if you are slim, fewer shrooms go a long ways
- if you are large, more shrooms are needed
There are probably several other factors that I am forgetting... perhaps we should start a FAQ for this as I have seen the question come up quite often recently.

I knew a guy that ate an 1/8 and also didn't trip. Turned out he had eaten rugularly that day and ate them sometime after dinner, which was why he didn't feel anything. I fast at least the day I'm going to take them, for instance if I was to take them around 7pm I wouldn't eat anything during that same day. If I were to eat them 10am I wouldn't eat anything the previous day besides a light breakfast. Maybe smoking a bowl would help on the come up, toke up around 30 minutes to an hour after eating em and see if that works for ya!

Effexor has a fairly short half life.I think it would be out of your system by now.Antidressants make semi long term changes to your brain though.It might take a few months to get to where you were before you started the meds (which could be a bad thing if you think Effexor was helping you).

i had a one bowl of cereal that morning.

according to the person i got them from, yes.
3) did you eat them all at once or space it out?
all in about 2 minutes with a little bread and orange juice.
4) Are you taking any medications or other drugs (alcohol/tabaco)?
just daily marijuana.
5) How much do you weigh? Body weight matters.
i'm 6" 180.

no, it wasn't helping at all. i felt like i was slowly poisoning myself. anyway, it feels great to be off it even though i still have some withdrawal symptoms.

If you're not tripping off an E of shrooms I dont think any other drug will do the trick enless you take ALOT....

if you just wanna trip to see what its like do 3 fat bong rips of 5x salvia with a torch lighter to light it leave the flame on the whole time. hold each hit as long as possible do not exhale till you start to black out a lil or yull waste that expensive shit.

Some people's inhibitions are so high that they might subconsciously ignore or block some or all of the effects of a drug. I have a friend who was dying to try Salvia. He hyped it up for weeks and when he finally got some, no matter how many times he tried he couldn't feel anything other than being more relaxed. He is afraid and ignorant about drugs in general though.

For some reason i think the mushrooms have poor potency. Have you ever eaten mushrooms before other then the other day. Like do you know that it even works on you?
Edit: Try some MAOI with your mushrooms see how that works.
