Human is Error
    #1735478 - 07/21/03 05:35 PM (18 years, 6 months ago)

Here's a text I'm in the process of writing. I hope you like it. Comments are most welcome.

---------------------------------

Human is Error

Everyone knows the saying "Error is human". What it tells us is that any error you make is somewhat understandable, considering the fact that no human being is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes, small ones and big ones. We shouldn't use this as an excuse to stay passive because "everyone makes mistakes, so it doesn't matter if I do", though. The message is that we should accept our errors and not push them away in denial. We should accept the fact that they are present in everyone's lives, and they have to be dealt with, not ignored. Making mistakes is a part of our learning process.

Now if you take this saying and reverse it, you obtain a different yet equally interesting concept.

"Human is error." What makes us humans is our errors. Our mistakes allows us to evolve independently from others. Your own mistakes shape your unique personnality, as everyone makes different errors and learns different lessons.

If we take this concept to a larger scale and apply it to the evolution of human society instead of our evolution as individuals, another matching pattern emerges. We humans are considered intelligent beings partly because we have the ability to pass on our knowledge to our descendents. As we evolved we became more and more sophisticated because we learned from past generations: therefore, most of the knowledge of the actual society comes from a discovery someone made or a lesson someone learned. And since discoveries are for the most part the result of trial & error, it would be safe to say that all common and shared knowledge comes from individuals who have persevered when confronted to a mistake they made.

Dealing with our personal problems is not only necessary to our individual evolution, it is also necessary to the evolution of mankind. Every person is a small part of mankind as a whole, so any constructive action you make in your life pushes society a step forward, whether it's discovering a cure for cancer after decades of fruitless research or first learning how to tie your shoes at the age of three.

human has the potential for error and therefore has the potential for greater good than if he were incapable of error.

if human is error, than the whole universe is error, because humans are just an extension of their reality.
