Karo Tek and Contams
    #1738490 - 07/22/03 04:23 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

Ok, afoaf has shot up several Karo jars, some with spores and some with unused liquid myc. All of these jars look very nice with lots of fluffy white myc floating around. The ones that were shot up with spores still have some spores that have not germinated but other than that, they all look very nice. Can one tell if a Karo jar is contaminated by looking at it or is the only way to be sure is by testing it out?

Thanks for any help,

Smokey

My neighbors keeper said that when he tried karo jars they all came out contaminated! But it was easy to spot...there was a dark cloud of "nastyness' floating around inside. VERY DARK...not like the usual white wisps that are normally seen. You should be able to tell, and from you described everythings sounds fine. But that is only the opinion of my neighbors keeper.  :pill2: :nut:

one of the advantages of using the Karo tec .
the liquid is crystal clear, so contaminations are easy to spot .

Thanks for the replies, sounds like my foaf should be good then. Do you know if the green stuff (Trichoderma harzianum?) would show up in the Karo jars? The green stuff seems to be the only contam this friend gets.

Thanks again,

Smokey
