Regarding a pasture's potential
    #1737983 - 07/22/03 01:09 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

There is this cow pasture I am eyeballing to go hunting at, but unfortunately there are no more cows. For a good 15+ years cows use to live their, making the soil very poopy. The cows have been absent for only 2 or 3 years. What my question is is if anyone would know, due to the manure rich soil, whether there would be any luck at finding any p. cubensis(they grow in my region). I am hesitant to go check for myself because of the risk(grumpy doberman pinchers). Thanks all.

most people will say no, but i'd say its a possibility. i found some cubes growing out of the dirt near horse pastures. it might not be worth your while though, if you can find somewhere else to look do it.

The only certain way to know if a place has mushrooms is to go look. The only way to know what kinds of mushrooms grow in a place is to go look.

We can guess and hypothesize 'til the cows come back to that field, and until somebody looks nobody really knows.

But don't get yourself arrested for tresspassing or attacked by animals to find out. Find a place where you can look legally and safely.

Happy mushroming!
