whatever expensive, complicated, violent mess they've gotten us into, isn't it a good thing that he's no longer in power?

No. It is not good thing for Iraq. Cause, saddam was loosing his power steadily. This incident make much more mess in Iraq. Cause, any government that is made by USA and GB bless, can nto retrireve desired ligimacy.

Now, in Iraq, you have the new izrael, great shit. No good for anybody, but for world to understand much more easily this democratic paradox.

Maybe with 20 more years of sanctions he would have been replaced.

In 20 year he probably wouldn't have killed more than a couple million people.

Nope Saddam was a secular leader that dreamed of pan arabic unification. He acted as check to fundamentalist muslim unification. He was a threat to Saudis and Isreal. He was the finger in the dike keeping back a shit flood in the middle east. Now we have our finger in the dike.

Whether Saddam is alive or not is unknown, but the captured Iraqi people accused of attacking US forces say they are not Saddam loyalists, but are against US occupation of their country.

Who is responsible for the US backed UN sanctions of Iraq which has caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis?

That was all Saddams fault because he refused to stop making weapons of mass destruction....er...the weapons that he never actually made. 750,000 chidren under 5 died thanks to the sanctions. Someone needs holding to account for that genocide.

Saddam was.

He invaded a country.

The US decided to banish him from said country.

The US did banish him from said country

He surrendered to the US to save his ass.

As part of the surrender, he signed a peace treaty, which had specific guidelines.

He met none of these guidelines.

The UN imposed sanctions to try to force him to comply with said guidelines.

He did not.

Sanctions stayed in place.

He got richer.

Many Iraqis suffered.

Bush got mad.

Bush dropped bombs.

Saddam dissapeared.

To be continued........................

I cant believe you are still spouting rubbish like this:

"As part of the surrender, he signed a peace treaty, which had specific guidelines.

He met none of these guidelines."

Havent you realised you have been lied to yet?
One more time, weapons inpsectors reported that Iraq complied with around 95% of all requests made of them up until 1998. Others have claimed that any information which showed this cooperation in a favourable light was basically covered up and a false image of Iraq as a threat was carefully built up over a period of time, until enough suckers like yourself believed the web of lies justified a war and excused genocide through sanctions.

Even if everything the US claimed about Saddam during the 90's was true (and in light of current developments I think we can all agree that is highly unlikely) two wrongs do not make a right. Saddam did not put the sanctions that killed hundreds of thousands of children in place. We did.
Another point, the sanctions were supposed to stop Saddam becoming a miitary threat so how did children end up dying?

Is there real proof that Saddam did indeed manufacture weapons of mass destruction after the first Gulf War?

yes, there is. there's also proof that he (and his wicked sons, especially uday) murdered thousands of people. you people won't even stand up to those facts because they don't jive with the way you'd like to percieve things.

instead, you'll say ridiculous things that sound something like *the deaths under saddam... they weren't caused directly by him; they were caused by the sanctions... all those shii'as and kurds everybody's saying hussein massacred... never happened. all those times hussein intimidated, arrested, or deported weapons inspectors... they didn't really matter. also, the sanctions (which were responsible for the hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths under saddam, none we actually directly caused by him) were not hussein's fault at all, but were in place for no reason other than mean old uncle sam wanting to kill some arab children. all you people that disagree watch too much fox news and are brainwashed and don't know what's going on. i'm special and have the inside scoop and you're all out of the loop. fools!*

I asked a simple question and you replied with emotion, generalisation and little content.

In fact you didnt even respond to the question I asked. Perhaps you need more sleep?
