    #1734311 - 07/21/03 08:51 AM (13 years, 7 months ago)

..That ive entirely exhausted 2 entire pastures of cubes in 2 short weeks? I always used the scissor method to pick em, and did give em a good tap everytime.. I gave it a few days and went back, no luck..

no you didn't overpick them if you're hunting by yourself. there ar4e more to be found, but just for shitz, why not try letting mother nature reccover for a while, at least a week.

the more likely reasons for the lack of fruits are:

1.) you are not looking hard enough.

2.) you are checking the same areas without giving enough time for new growth.

3.) the weather is no longer adequate to trigger fruiting, or to do so on so large a scale as before.

I got a friend that believes that he can thump caps when he picks and next time it rains those spores will be where the new shrooms come from. I've tried to explain to him countless times that it is just not so. He counters with " I've always been told to thump them and I believe what the majority of people tell me". Some people just don't want to know the truth.

maybe your not the only picker? Try to go earlier than usual. In populated areas you'll find people leaving as your comming or vice versa. Maybe you're getting the bad end of the stick. Otherwise you should wait a little while then check it out.

My friend has had the same problems recently. It just looks as if the Cubes aren't coming up right now. The south hasn't been getting the rain right now either, so that's probably why.

Ive heard of letting cows lick spore prints or shoot spores from a syringe into a apple and let a horse eat it. Anybody have any sucess with this? Could one spray spores around a feild in a state where cubes dont grow (Tennessee)and start a patch(considering the temps are right)? Anybody know why cubes dont grow in tennessee(except around the mississippi line?)
