has anyone experimented with waiting longer to birth?
    #1733136 - 07/20/03 09:25 PM (18 years, 3 months ago)

I read that shrooms fruit when they are done eating the substrate. I have also read wait one week after they are 100% to birth, and that seems to be a general rule. But what if you wait 3 weeks? Will your pinning be alot faster cause they are REALLY ready? I just wonder if any of you experts have tried waiting longer. And if so what the conclusions were. :mushroom2:

well if you wait too long the mycelium may overlay the cased substrate and you don't want that to happen.

<well if you wait too long the mycelium will overlay the substrate and you don't want that to happen.

explain that to me Psilocybin_monkey how you could get overlay with brf jars still in the jar ??

and to your question you can leave your brf jars alone till you see pins start exposing it to light and will be fine

you need to read up on what overlay is - it needs a casing surface. no es posibile in a jar, hombre. oh, and 'birth' implies a jar as a womb.

Quote:

Overly dry casing
In a dry casing, the mycelium is characterized by the lack of rhizomorphs and a abundance of fine capillary type mycelia. This fine growth can totaly permeate the casing layer, which then becomes hard, compact and unreceptive to water. It is common for puddles to form on a dry casing that has just been watered. Also, a dry casing rarely permits primordia formation because of its arid microclimate and is susceptible to "overlay".Mushrooms,if they occur, frequently form along the edges of the tray.Overlay is a dense mycelia growth that covers the casing surface and shows little or no inclination to form pinheads.Overlay directly results from a dry casing, high levels of CO2 and/ or low humidity.

Now I was guessing that MOE.shrooms was talking about casing NOT NO GOD DAMN JARS WITH BRF IN THEM.

Ok I'm not going to quote and quote and quote, tis a waste of time. This person was asking if he waited longer than the reccomended colonization time, would it be better (?). It is obvious he is speaking about jar or else he would have (hopefully) mentioned his casing layer materials. You came up with overlay, perhaps you misread his post. If anything a jar would run out of hydration. Now you listen....

Overlay exists on these:

And have you even tried (or know) what these are?

Get at me dawg, and don't put words into anyones mouth......

Not really you can let the substarte colonize in the grow chamber (not jars)alot of people dose this with straw and what not, they take a colonized cake or cakes and mix it in with the staw then inubate it till it is 100% colonized. So they let it colonize 100% too you don't have to have jars to colonize substrate.and you can put spores on the substrate directly in the grow chamber (not jars)thx for the tip i'll have to write that one down pitcat I mean pitdawg and like you said pitdawg maybe he would had said what materials were used then why was BRF said?he never said that too and jars?alot of different substrate can go into jars last time I checked.Like I said I was guessing he was that they were cased and maybe I should have said if they are going to cased then this might happen.

so what ever man.

anyways i'm done with this post because it is a waste of my time.

Could dry out da cakes bro. Had cakes laying around in the incu a little longer than should have. That incu temp can dry em out fast if the internal rH drops. And dried out cakes are almost worthless, unless ya case em. And to get fruits off that, u will B lucky.

Not talking out my ass, talking from exp.

Listen jackass AKA XiC cLone I know pitdawg knows what he is talking about.I guessed MOE.shrooms was talking about cased mycelium and Fallshroom said I said that brf jars get overlay in then, now I don't see MOE.shrooms say anything about casing nor do I see jars with brf we were just taking a guess.but he put words into my mouth and pitdawg laughed at me so I got pissed off.I'v got no problems with pitdawg or anybody I see where they are coming from and I hope they see where i'm coming from no big deal.
