I really do not need that much work space but I can pick it up for two hundred dollars. That is the reason for buying such a large unit. It is made by atmos tech.

but then you have to think about the massive blower that it's gonna require...those are kind of expensive, unless you get lucky on that also.

Here is a pic. It is from a cabinet and blows down on work area. It is variable speed and comes with a clean hepa filter. It is 110 volt. I was going to put it on its side and use it that way. Like I said not sure it is to big. I think it is a good deal.

If it's able to give a laminar flow, then I would jump on that in a heartbeat.
But how thick is that filter? It looks like it's only 3 inches thick, if that. Most Laminar Flow Hoods are built with at least a 6" thick filter, some with a 12" thick one.

Ok now what are the specs on the blower(s)? Whats the output cfm?
Something is telling me that the blower isn't strong enough to create a laminar flow, because I have never seen a unit that small.

I posted a pic of spec label above.

Thats for the filter right? What about the blower? There is 2 different data sheets you need, one for the filter and one for the blower, that was for the filter I believe.
I'm not sure how to figure out the exact numbers, but u have to add some for dust built up over time and for the prefilter, so my uneducated guess would be a 1500 cfm blower would be needed at least, but i could be wrong.
It would be best to wait for someone else to chime in. But you need the info on the blower.

You might not need a flowhood that big for your workspace but its great to have one to help control the contams while colonizing jars.
Once you have your blower and flowhood, I would buy one of these.

I use low for Agar work or constant filter, Medium for G2G and I only use the high setting a couple hours before any work, just to clear the air in the room.

I was told it utilizes a uplon filter which has a better filtering ability than hepa.

I would snatch that up right away if I were you. If you want to dive head first into Mycology and get started with Agar and iso work, you def need one. Very wise investment.
But that is my opinion. :3

based on the spec sheet and the fact you said its 110v tells me its got a built in blower. I don't think filters alone come with a CFM ratings. The CFM rating should be for the built in blower. sounds like an awesome deal if it does.
if it is a ready to plug and play unit, i'd snatch it. It's prolly overkill, because you only need about 100CFM in your work area. But you could prolly sell it at a mark up or use it to clean your room

There are two blowers inside well fans actually. And it has an ulpa filter not hepa which has a higher filtration capacity. I have been reading though that true laminar flow hoods look like this. .

I can buy this for 375 tomorrow. Or buy the other for 225. I was told to get real laminar flow it is best to have the air enclosed like the pic above. Or the air will want to move off in all directions once is exits along the sides. What would you do the first or the second one for 150 more?
Oh yea btw I have purchased all my lab gear so yes I am wanting to move into tissue culture work. I kinda get crazy when I get into hobbies and go all out.
