crushed rye?
    #17339953 - 12/05/12 05:58 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

I can only find 100% organic crushed rye grain at the store. Its not cushed up into flour or anything but it is crushed up. I was wondering if that would be ok for grain work? I dont remember the brand. It actually said pumpernickle on the package but it was 100% whole grain rye. Anybody know what im talking about?

It will work but it's going to be ugly and messy.
Once you pressure cook it, the starches inside the grains is going to coat the inside of your jars..

agreed.

It can turn into a sticky mess.

Kinda defeats the purpose of using grain in the first place.

Look for whole wheat berries if you can't find rye.

Or birdseed.
