Seems like it would work. Much less pricy as compared to a 500$+ Laminar Flow Hood. The dimentions seem like a decent area of space to work as well. Any ideas or thoughts are appriciated.

I am very interested in this. My friend needs to do some G2G transfers and syringe making stuff soon. If this is an acceptable flow hood he will buy one for sure.

I wonder which way the air flows? If it sucks it in the front and pushes it out the top, it will be worthless for a flow hood, eh?

You can make an even cheaper flow hood by purchasing a $20 HEPA filter for your Shop-Vac. Then clean the vaccum, set it for blow, and slow the exhaust tube into a box. Tape the tube to the box, and turn the vaccum cleaner on.
Yeah, a a vaccum cleaner makes alot of noise, but at 1/5th the price you can expect some draws.

Doesn't look like this one would work at all. The front is the intake. I found a manual to a similar model by Hunter, and the flow went the wrong direction. The prefilter sits in front of the HEPA filter, so that told me the flow would be backwards from what we need.

Wont work, the flow will not be laminar. It's turbulent flow and will effectively vortex all your contaminants right into your work.

Laminar flow is achieved through pressure, I doubt there's enough pressure behind that to cause a laminar flow.

I am just going to build a glove box for now. I want to try cloning on for size, and the glove box should be adequate for it I hope.

Re: Poor Man's Flow Hood BUMP! [Re: Cow Shit Collector]

*BUMP

Ok so that wasn't such a good idea.  But i'm going for uber cheap here!

Check this REALLY cheap flowhood idea. http://users.cwnet.com/three4al/bamboo/Cardboard-Hood.htm

I know its crude, but the point is, wil it work?
If this design would work, then the flow hood could go from, poor man's woe to poor man's HELLO.
Let me know what you think
