Weird white puff balls growing on PFTEK cake??? Mold? Let it go?

I did the PFTek method and all jars successfully fully colonized. However I had to leave them in the cold for about 5 days or a week roughly. I brought them inside and soaked the cakes for a day, then rolled them in verm and put them in per-lite filled growing containers. It's been about a week or so and I see white puff balls on all in one container, and starting in another. I'm concerned its mold, but praying its the mushrooms growing through the vermiculite outter coating.
Any help would be amazing! Thank you!

The white balls are mycelium. They are growing in an aerial fashion because your humidity is very high. They normally do this when you have great humidity but poor fresh air exchange. So make sure your fanning enough and your fruiting chamber is built to exact specifications.
The lighter greyish areas could be cobweb mold but I'm on a cell phone and the pics are tiny so I cannot confirm this until later today.
Cobweb is treatable and from my observation these cakes are doing OK.

Your cake will also expend energy and moisture attempting to colonize the perlite. Definitely place them on something. The energy and moisture will go towards fruiting.

Thanks guys!!! Two more questions.
Can cold weather be bad or ruin cakes?
and can perlite be boiled/rinsed and reused? I noticed last grow some purpleish mold started growing around the cakes.
Thanks!

Perlite can essentially be re-used forever. Boiling works great to clean it.
I use cool water for both misting and the dunk.

Perlite can be used over and over boiling is fine.
Temps between 76 and 81f are optimal. The lower you go the slower they grow and colonizing, eventually stalling completely. Also be aware colder weather brings in very dry air. Adjust accordingly.
