Hello shroomery, long time lurker here first time poster. I've been using monotubs for close to a year now with varying amounts of success up until about 2 months ago when I really kicked my cleanliness into gear. I wrapped a spare room with plastic wrap and have got it pretty dang clean. Got a purifier running 24/7, I doubt it helps too much but figured it wouldn't hurt. I currently have around 6-10 66 quart tubs going at a time using a variation of TLs tek. I usually start with WBS and use a MS syringe and then do G2G to an additional 20-30 jars depending on the needs at that time. I have a pretty good rotating schedule going right now and have around 60-90 jars going at a time. I usually get yields between 3-5 oz's dry on the first flush and usually get up to 3 flushes and then toss the tub after I harvest the 3rd flush.
Now this all takes up a ton of room and from step 1 to harvest takes around 5-8 weeks. I am wanting to find a way to either save some space or speed everything up or increase yields. I have not begun working with agar yet as I do not have my flowhood finished yet. I am hoping to finish it in the next month or so so I can start working with agar. Currently I work inside of a fairly large glovebox inside of the plastic room.
I've also considered trying bags rather than jars as they hold more and it would take 1 bag per tub I believe and I think 30-40 bags would take up less space.
Any feedback is appreciated, I know I am not asking many questions yet. I am mostly looking to have a discussion about all of this to see if it might point me in the right direction of searching for what else is out there to advance my methods.

just so you know a glovebox works fine for agar!

Isolate some species and put your tubs to work! thats my plan at least with my isolates. all done in a glove box with 5 plates out of 60 contaminating. not bad! also have isolated some mono cultures with three transfers. yet to fruit! maybe this will improve my less than mediocre results from MS.

i would experiment with bags, that is a good idea to conserve space. ive had mixed results with bags as opposed to jars, but am still pretty nooby

Agar will be a big advantage.
Bags will hold a lot more spawn then you realize. I often do jars G2G to bags.
Larger mono tubs?

I do not advise using large mono tubs....you can get the same results using a 3.5inch sub in a smaller tub with the same surface area as opposed to using more sub (6inches) in a container with the same surface area.

It requires less spawn to make up a monotub.

By larger mono tub I was recommending the same substrate depth but larger surface area.

That is a good tek to follow. And if you can't get malt extract where you live there are many recipes with materials that are easier to find, I started out by using potato flakes and honey.

Get that flow hood finished asap, you'll be glad you did. Use bags.
You can practically watch a good isolated rhizo grow.
I say forget about monotubs. They are a waste of space. If you build a good climate controlled fruiting chamber you could make beds that are more efficient. If you're serious about production, model your grow like a commercial button mushroom farm.
