What is considered "ambient light"?

Hey guys, let me preface this question by saying that I've searched high and low for this answer with no luck. Essentially, how much light is considered "ambient" when referring to ambient light during colonization? If anyone knows of a watt per sq. foot guideline, please share. I appreciate the responses, thanks in advance.

I colonize and fruit with the same light.

Light is not that important, as long as it is in the right spectrum. Those two 13w 6500k CFLs have provided me with so many beautiful flushes I can't even count them anymore.
You can colonize in the dark, but it's better to do it in the light. As long as the light isn't heating your jars, all will be well.

Ambient light simply means not direct/intense light. Not darkness, but some light sometimes. That's my interpretation anyways.

Enlighten me please, I thought the rule was no light on colonization. Wouldn't that tigger premature pinning. I have my hall closet set up as an over sized incubator. Every time I brain fart and leave the door open I'm like "shit did it again" Only indirect, ambient light ever shines there.
Guess I been freaking out over nothing

Yes, I understand and too have an idea of what ambient light is - some light, not darkness, not bright. I've been experimenting with different levels of light during colonization to find the sweet spot. I'm asking if anyone perhaps knows of something more precise than just "some light." I mean, there must be a watt to square foot ratio that provides the best returns. For example, I've read that 1 watt per square foot during fruiting is a solid parameter for what we call "direct intense light." Thanks for the help.

Honestly its not really that important. I mean, there might be an "optimal sweet point" as far as light goes- but thats imo, making things too complicated.
Just dont have a source of light aimed directly at whatever you have colonizing and youll be fine. Im no pro, but lighting has never really been something Ive concerned myself with and have had plenty of great grows. I read once that Hippiechick's impressive green house was lighted only by the light bulb in the bedroom, nothing fancy at all. Look that up if you want some inspiration, holy shit.
Anyway, best of luck either way.

Ambient= all around you.
Its the light that you live in. Mushroom growing is rapidly changing, as new variables are found every day. This light thing is an example. In the forums 2000 lumens was sited as optimal for a monotub or fruiting chamber. But i dunno...... I suspect thats mostly a guess too.
