Has anybody ever tried to use Red RF? I wonder if it'll work. Thoughts? I found it in an Indian Grocery store
I just went and got the red rice flour.
It says in each serving which is 1/4 cup it has:
sodium 60 mg, total carbohydrates 36 mg, dietary fiber 1.6 g protein 3 g, calcium 4% dv iron 8% dv

Are you using this for experimental reasons? Or can you not find BRF?

I'm sure it will fruit some mushies, whether they have any "magic" in them is a different story.
You'll probably get inactive fruits, like when white rice is used.

Since when does the substrate determine whether the variety is active or inactive???? Where did you learn about this?

so did it work out well ? I have the "problem" that they sell here only red rice flour and not brown one and I'm curious if there is a big difference in the end results

If you have a blender, buy a bag of brown rice and chop it up.

but lets assume you dont have a blender, and you just want to do one pf tek for the start, will it make such a huge difference using red instead of brown rice flour ? I mean its just another breed of rice and also unprocessed and grinded up.

As far as I know, everything in the PF Tek is chosen specifically to maximize potential/optimize growing conditions.
Yes, it should probably work, but just remember BRF has been selected as 'optimal'.
I'm still a noob, but I do have some common sense and have been reading. There's no lack of experimentation among growers, yet PF Tek remains the same, using BRF instead of red.
Also, it's been said over and over and I agree with it. Noobs should avoid experimentation/innovation. Do your best to follow the Tek to the letter, first. After you've successfully grown mushrooms, then you can try your hand at innovation.
I plan to follow this myself, I even paid a bunch of extra money just to get the right damn jars because no one around here sells them.

sure it is but i guess this relies on the fact that BRF is at most places on this planet easier to acquire than RRF regarding some "Healthy food internet forums" the amount of nutrition in red and brown rice is nearly identical
