Do you think it's ready to be introduced to fruiting conditions? * 1
    #17333830 - 12/04/12 04:42 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Sealed the tub 11/15. Have about a dozen pins on top and a few more on the sides and a couple little mature shroomies. Followed Damion5050/TranscendingLife's coir tek.

Do you think it's ready to be introduced to fruiting conditions? (Sorry if some of the pics are a little low quality)

You should introduce fruiting when 5-6 pins about 1/2" or so pop up.

That was my original intention but I'm worried that it started pinning before full colonization. I was wanting to check with you guys and see what your opinion was to make sure that it was fully colonized. I introduced another tub too early because of pins that I saw and it ended up contaminating within the first week so I figured better safe than sorry this time.

It's definitely not done colonizing. That it's pinning is a red flag IMO. Do you have any pics of your spawn?

No pics of the spawn but I don't see any signs of fungal or bacterial infection. We recently moved though so it's possible that the lid may have been bumped a little and let in some fresh air. Other than the move though the lid has stayed latched on.

How long should I wait for full colonization before I should be worried?

If using a 1:1 - 1:4 spawn ratio, you should see full colonization within 15 days. This is not to say it can't take longer, but it really doesn't matter. Just keep an eye out for contamination. If nothing shows, let it keep colonizing.

My pinning/troubleshooting guide may help you. See sig links.
