C02 sensor for correct FAE metric

Ok it just dawned on me that everyone here just wings the FAE by ear, because accurate c02 sensors are ridiculously pricey. The best way i can tell by reading, is you determine by the results of your mushrooms that you have proper fae. In science this is not a good way to proceed. How come someone hasnt invented a cheap co2 card that gives a rough percentage of co2? Do any of you have any ideas to contribute here? These kinds of metrics lead to good autonomy.

It's because specific CO2 levels aren't important. It's the amount of times per day you replace all the air they get that matters. It's related to evaporation levels, RH and temperature as well. So a CO2 meter would be dam near useless and a good one would cost more than your PC.

These are the TEKs I use. They're all as cheap and easy as possible, just like your mom.

Thats good info. I was just trying to figure all of the variables to account for in a chamber. The cheapest meter i found was on ebay. It was a microcontroller interface for an arduino board. I like the notion of arduino, because 1 unit can control an unlimited number of greenhouses. Having all the environmental specs with granularity in the control. For instance degree increments for precise colonization and fruiting temps. Proper moister, even proper ph in the substrate. I thought co2 was a factor. So your saying it has more to do with air flow?

CO2 is definitely a factor, but it's tied in with other environmental controls, so to try to isolate only that issue wouldn't do you much good.

someone has invented a cheap c02 sensor,,, its a one time use sensor its a syringe that you suck air into and it tells you the level of the c02 with a few min, its around 15 bucks
