grain to grain

I was wondering if i kept on doing grain to grain transfers to produce each new generation of mushrooms, how long could i do this before the mycelium degrades. I would think that it would degrade somewhat from generation to generation but i wasn't sure.

One petri dish for 10 QT spawn jars transfered to 100 QTs of spawn could then inocculate 1000 QTs of spawn if you wanted to.

Ive found it to be tough to transfer more than once.
The mycellium seems to lose its vigor.

They say not to go past 3 generation because that is when it degrade mycelium

I haven't done experiments with this, but I would assume indefinetly. It's not like liquid mycelium where it gets all funky after about 3 generations... that's not written in stone though so anyone feel free to correct me.
