growing question
    #1732587 - 07/20/03 05:01 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

My question is about mushrooms growing upside down. What would cause them to do this ? I'm using the PF cake tech with perlite humidification. I have a 60 watt spiral florecant light on 8 hours a day. I fan the co2 out once a day and mist the side of the tuperware before I reclose it to bring the numidity back up. Three days ago I got my first mushroom by the time the veil finally tore away from the cap the cap was upside down, with the gills facing the light. There are several more small mushrooms growing and they are starting the curve down toward the perlite and seam to be growing very slowly.
Does anyone have any suggestions ?

I had the same thing happen, like FallenShroom said that light reflects off the perlite leaving the shroom to think thats the source of light. The only thing i can think of to stop this is
to use a dim light, you don't need much light either, just a 15 watt bulb will do. I use a flourescent light as well but it seems to work well with casing since they only have one way to grow.

Hope I made sense and Good Luck

If Time is considered linear and represented by a straight line of 180deg. Then it is easy to conjecture that infinity/eternity can be identified by a circle . A circle has no beginning and no ending.
