Moisture content, GE filters, etc. The idea is to be a scientist. Start messing with variables & use what works.

So does mold to the untrained eye. The way your jars look 100% colonized on the top & 80% on the bottom are true signs of contamination. Let those jars sit for 2 more days & see how they look.

Been a few days and I see zero change in the jars... Should I spawn and hope orrrrrr? Also if you spawn to 50/50 horse/coir... Would it be best to pasteurize even if working with a 1:1 spawn ratio?

Bulk substrates ALWAYS get pasteurized, the spawn ratio has noting to do with it. For manure you need to do proper pasteurization.
Also, adding some vermiculite in your substrate mix might help a little with moisture retention, not to mention it has nutrients the mycellium crave as well.

Yup...

Why do you suppose the brf tek is 2/3 verm? Because fungi has need of minerals, that's why. I want to rip someone's ears off when I read verm has no 'nutes'. There's lots of material that will hold as much water as vermiculite, such as peatmoss, sand, coir, cardboard, shredded newspapers, and about ten thousand others, but verm is what we use because it has many of the minerals that mushrooms want, as does gypsum.
However, brf cakes are already 2/3 verm so find another nutrient source if you want to move on from there. RR

Yea. & whoever told you to spawn those is wrong.
I remember saying wait a few more days & see. & now, it's clear. Those are definitely contaminated. Ditch them before they start to spore.

TL is right. Those uncolonized layers at the bottom are unusual and highly suspect. I wouldn't spawn them, not inside at least.

Lol dump in progress... So here's another question cause its from the same LC and the pf cakes didn't all contaminate....least not visually... I've seen a couple start pinning and fruit body formation with out full colonization.... That's a first for me... I mean I know it could be from contamination but the pf cakes look fine to me
Also... Is there any known way to make a GH for cakes... Every time I ask or search I get told GHs need bulk but I've heard whispers that Ultra sonics are needed for cakes and that's why people swear by them

Hard to tell. If it's not from the LC then it's from somewhere else, it's just a matter of going back over every step in the process. If everything else looks good then you start to suspect the culture. If the cakes experienced similar problems that could lean the odds toward a bad culture.

Possibly the syringe, or it happened when aspirating the LC from the jar...shit, with LC, there's no telling when the contam entered.

I thought about that... How dose the pressure of over 120cc +/- effect the pressure with a Filter disk? 3/8th hole
