I've never found much use for wax paper, my tubs always give great pinsets...if you have your FAE/RH dialed in, you shouldn't need it.

It is MS agar to wbs to straight coir.  I have 2 FAE holes on each long side.  I mist and fan 2 times.  I have my fan running in my room 24/7

is that cool?

I wait for about a dozen pins to arrive before polyfill. When I initiate too early, it tends to dry out substrate and you'll end up waiting the same amount of time for it to do its thing with vents open or closed

I run a fan facing away from my tubs, on low. It blows the air around pretty good. It shouldn't be too drafty though.
The key is the polyfill.
After much, much experimenting, this is what I settled on:
I take a piece of the polyfill and gently spread it out so it's about the size of my hand and spread pretty thin. Maybe a half inch thick and pulled apart so as not to be very dense at all.
Then I fold that in half, and loosely roll my hands over it like I'm shaping clay into a ball. I barely use any pressure.
This will create a nice golf-ball sized puffball, very loose but thick enough to retain humidity.
I find this works great for my set up. You'll need to watch the moisture on the sides of the tub to see. If it dries up on the sides, you should mist the sides and stuff the poly tighter/turn the fan down.
If there is no evaporation at least around the stuffed holes after a day or two, you'll need to loosen the poly/increase the airflow/fan every now and again.
Hope this helps!

well, live and u learn.

and for the record.

DOC's HYBRID MONO TUBS are NOT ideal for a room with a fan blowing 24/7.  But, a TL MONO TUB does fine!

How big are your holes, and how big of a ring of dryness is optimal for u frank...i found that with my 2" holes, a 1cm ring of dryness around the polyfill is about right for my tubs.

Generally monotubs have about 4 holes on each side 2 being at sub level and 2 closer to the lid of the tub. I don't think two holes will suffice for your grow. Monotubs provide their own humidity so opening the lid is not something you want to do until ready to harvest. Also the holes closer to sub level should be packed tighter (if using polyfill) than the holes closer to the lid which should be packed kind of loose.

You have one hole near the handles on the short sides, yeah?

You might have to adjust the 24/7 fan, your misting, or your fanning. Each grower's situation is different, but it sounds like you are on the right track. Monotubs are pretty easy.

I use 1.5" holes myself, and I get about a half an inch of dry around each of the bottom holes.
Usually one or both top holes will have the same as well, but sometimes there will be a line of evaporation running down to the substrate level which is fine for me as well.

IME duct tape around the outside will not stop the side pins. Only a black trash bag solved my problems, because it shrinks with the substrate and eliminates any microclimate
