Is it time to switch this to fruiting conditions?
    #17317937 - 12/01/12 10:49 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

First monotub, I've done a heap of research and I think I know what im doing... looking for advice about whether I'm doing this right.

The pics show what my tub looks like. Is this at the right stage to change it to fruiting conditions? I have a feeling I may have actually left it too long?

I'm planning to follow sfgcchambers method of not using holes and polyfill, but rather leave the lid cracked open to allow FAE.

That is not a monotub...that is a bulk substrate in a tray...the pic in my signature is a monotub.

You either need a smaller tub with monotub holes(one that the tray fits snug in), or a properly built SGFC
with 1/4" holes every 2" in a grid pattern on all 6 sides filled with 4-5" of moist perlite, with the tub raised off of the surface it's on so air can pass under it..

That small of a substrate in that big of a container cannot sustain the proper humidity levels.

Monotub Tek

Oh.. right.

The plan is for future grows to have two trays side by side inside the tub. Ive measured it all up and two trays fit snug next to each other.
Im doing it that way because i thought it might be easier to lift each tray out and dunk it for extra flushes... ( I dont have a bathtub to dunk a full tub if you get what I mean)

Ive read TLs one flush wonder tek through several times.

I'm planning to follow the way sgfcchamber does his tubs - with no holes in the side, cracking the lid for air exchange. Seems like he gets good results with that method.

What do you think about the stage of the colonized substrate? Is it right to fruit? Too far colonized?

As stated above it won't work, take my suggestion and get a smaller tub, or build that into a SGFC...your plans for future grows have nothing to do with this tray that needs the proper sized chamber.

I'm guessing he was advising you create a SGFC and put 4-5 inches of perlite on the bottom.  Your "fruiting conditions" are going to be poor if you don't construct a proper fruiting chamber and create a proper environment.
