Is it possible to grow shrooms without spores by recreating natural places that they would usually grow?

Absolutely not, need to bring in the spores specifically the spawn

You can't reasonably create something out of nothing. I guess, however, that if you had a huge block of time and an extraordinary amount of luck you could recreate evolution with a mushroom precursor(ie. no spores) into what we now have as mushrooms.

"Early fungi were aquatic organisms that branched off from animals, renounced the swimming flagella and evolved to spread their spores in a terrestrial ambient. " <<--- Not a reputable source hehe. (http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-Did-the-Fungi-Evolve-38697.shtml)

Some spores landed on the shit and germinated. The shit does not turn into shrooms simply from time. In a sterile vacuum shit would remain how it looks when it first comes out forever. I think what ur talking about is creationism, and is most likely not how things work.

I'm pretty sure the spores go through the cow and out the back-end.  They do not just land on manure.

Fair enough  I was more so trying to get the concept out that they don't just grow when conditions are right, there needs to be spores!

makes sense spores travel through and survive digestive track of bovine. i thought birds spread a lot of spores too tho and have heard about wind patterns determining location of growth in wild.

I'm pretty sure the concept of going thru the cow is a joke.  Unless you guys are playing along?  Either way this thread is :rofl2:

It was a serious question. Maybe instead of asking "Is it possible to grow shrooms without spores by recreating natural places that they would usually grow?" I should have asked "Is it possible to grow shrooms without buying or adding spores by recreating natural places that they would usually grow and letting whatever happens in nature happen to make shrooms grow?".

I know mushrooms can't grow without spores, I'm not that dumb. But I saw this thread and it didn't say anything about adding spores, so I assumed that whatever happens in nature is what happened there.

Of course it's possible.

The likeliness of it happening is another thing all together. I'd imagine the chances of it happening are so obscenely remote, it might as well be an impossibility. The most likely thing that will happen is it will be over taken by some other random growth, or even nothing at all.

ever follow a deer trail hunting mushrooms? and notice that mushrooms tend to follow there trails?, the spores can germinate while passing through the animal and then get dropped on the ground all happy and ready they pass through many ruminants, cows espesally because they have very low stomach acid so more spores germinate.  i was gonna feed my goats cube spores but i was advised to spray lc in the field for better results for the long term i plan to do both.  And I dont know how to sperate what i have to say from the quote so its all in the quote box

So if you did have a big field going to waste, hell even a garden, would a solitary cow be a good investment? LC all over the lawn with one cow moooching about, would that actually work? I'm not seriously considering this by the way, just interested to know how one would create the right conditions!

How come mushrooms grow fine outside but need such sterile conditions inside? Is it just a matter of chance? Some will make it outside and some wont? Many will still get contaminated just as many wont, some are lucky and some unlucky?

They don't 'need' such a sterile environment inside, you're creating a sterile environment so the mycellium have the greatest chance to colonize the substrate before some other growth takes it over.

Ah so even if one is very sloppy even filthy in his approach there is always a chance of success?

dont buy a cow  If you really dont want to cultivate indoors make lots of lc,like quarts maybe a couple gal? if its cubes or pan cyans spray it in an old pile of hay or compost or manure,  If you dont have manure big stores sell it or any horse stable in your area will let you go load as much as you want just makesure they dont use ceder chips in the stalls or ask if you can get it out of the feild.  I sprayed some straw in my shed with cube lc and it colinized and made one lone fruit.  good luck

 lol! Can I just be clear, I was not planing to, wont and never will be buying a cow! If I was to attempt that I would have to bring the cow inside to live with me 12 floors up! Missus wouldn't stand for it!

It was really more wondering about if it was feasible bud would the conditions be easy to produce, and would the cow produce good yields!

you never know on here dude:laugh:, choose a tek that is tried and true witch aint hard to find here and follow it to a t. dont cut corners on it and you will grow the mushrooms you want!! and with some luck and a good LC you can spray a pot of straw manure mix and have fruits! or do cakes and a SGFC, and the cow fields produce good yeilds.
