Found one so far on my land, but hopefully more to come as we're headed to a state park.. Not sure what this is and I wanna throw it in the herbarium I just started so I need a lil help... Thanks
Was growing beside an old branch, like halfway underneath it... It appeared to be growing from the ground w/ moss all around it, but I played around in the soil for a second and it appears to be really decayed wood.... It was in a low lying corner of our field under some trees where the ground usually stays pretty moist.. Spore printing now...
1.?????
2. Clitocybe

Will a print confirm entoloma? And would it require microscopy to get to species? Sry for the questions, I'd key it but I'm driving right now...
Ok, read a little, so if print is pink it's entoloma or pluteus, and the gill attachment already rules out pluteus right?

Ok, we finished the hunt for the day, found a couple more, I know the genus of some but any suggestions in species or Genus of the others would be helpful because I'm trying to narrow it down to put in my new "herbarium" and when i get my scope for Christmas, I can further examine them if necessary. Thanks for your help guys..
3. Pluteus cervinus?
4. ????
5. Pluteus sp. maybe?
6. Marasmius sp maybe? Growing next to a heavily decayed hardwood log in forest litter...
7 and 8 Weird wood living puffball, shoots out green spores when you squeeze, literally hundreds on the rotting log.. And just a cool Ganoderma I think, that I snapped a pic of...

We had fun hiking today! The puffball looking ones would just shoot out spores when u would just touch them.

Thanks Dgnome, I was thinking pluteus because the gills were free, do you know any species of entoloma that would fit that don't have gills attached to the stipe?
I guess something under Collybioid huh?

5 is really tall. Probably a Xerula/Hymenopellis. Did you collect a spore print?

It's printing now, to be honest xerula was the first thing that crossed my mind, only becuz I found one about a month ago, but the pink color of the gills had me thinking pluteus or entoloma for some reason, probably should have printed before I did all this assuming, lol...
But yeah print in progress, If it's white you think we're safe to say Xerula?
I just started a collection, but now it's kind of stressing me out cuz I feel more pressure to try to get EVERYTHING ID'd and down to species if I can... Guess it's good though, forces me to spend more time..

The stem seems off for my concept of Xerula, so perhaps Entoloma is correct I see few other options though.

Think that's it man, looks spot on
Did you just recognize that on sight? Lol that's badass, I don't know any of these uncommon genera, I need to study up.

Yeah I know, I've found a bunch at our house and then found these today at a park, just never really ID'd them... Thanks a lot, glad to get a good ID finally so I can throw them in the collection...
