Jars are drying before done

My jars are drying out but the mycelium is not done filling the jar. Some are half way white some a little less. I thought about sanitizing and adding water to them then giving it about a week and see what happens. If nothing happens I'll birth them and see what happens from there. Should I be doing something else?

They are half pint grain jars that I ordered online. This is my second try, first try contaminants got to them. So this time I was way more anal about it and it looked like it was working great. My temp is in the low 70's. I had read it would go slower with the temp lower but that it should be fine. Well it's stopped from the looks of it and the grains seem really dry compared to when I started.

Yes agreed, the first jars looked cheap. I did a lot more looking and found some that looked like a better business. Its difficult to make my own where I'm at but if this one doesn't work that's what I will have to do. Just hoping I can make this work.

Also it's been 4 weeks, so should I just try birthing them then and forget the water idea? I read some other have done it with good results and others say no. Its my understanding that if the mycelium stops and you leave the jars in this state too long they will mold.

Pictures?
Grains should look dry. The moisture is all internal.

I am unable to get pictures sorry. Need to do something soon just not sure what. Afraid if I leave it much longer they might mold.

You're not supposed to use 1/2 pint jars for grains. Use quarts and follow the grain prep tek and you'll be golden. RR
