Hi all,
First off let me say thank you for the wealth of helpful information posted over the years by all, it's been invaluable
I seem to be getting a lot more pins that I thought I would for the first flush on this cake below and they all seem to be coming from the bottom, can you tell early if a pin is an abort and should you remove it or just leave it alone?

The cake above was not dunked after colonization but seems to be fruiting better than the 2 that were dunked, is this normal?

Dunked cakes will produce larger fruits fruits, also they might b slightly slower because it will take some time to recover after dunk.

Thanks man, in all honesty I have never felt this good since my daughter was born, no joke
What about the pinning question anyone any suggestions, should what seems like non growing pins be removed or left alone?

Your cakes look lovely!
It's an abort if it turns black and fails to grow.
They'll usually get kinda mushy.
I see only a couple very miniscule aborts. Nothing to worry about as they're part of a big cluster.
Just pick aborts. They are actually still good to eat (unless you let them get all the way gross).
Nice job. It's a great feeling!

Leave any pins/aborts alone until it is very clear they have aborted.

Today the veils broke so it looks like these are ready for harvest but.. I cannot get a fan until tomorrow as I didn't expect these to be ready today.
I assume these will be ok overnight?

Different angle same cake:

picture of the dunked cake, 2nd dunked cake is taken even longer but I can see pins developing but not many:

So again no fan until tomorrow but I am guess no harm would be done waiting until tomorrow to harvest, any advice would be welcome
Will keep you all updated with pics of course

If you wait overnight to harvest your FC will be a mess with spores.Just pick them and lay them out on a flat surface or anything really and they will be fine until you get a fan tomorrow

I have a few final questions,
I have left these on some paper in the kitchen until tomorrow but should you split them apart from the cluster or leave them as the cluster while sitting overnight tonight?

the top of the harvested cake looks funny, it looks blue/grey.
The picture makes it looks more grey because of the flash but it defo has a clear blue tint through it, bit worried, cake has is being dunked in water as we speak.

Thanks again all for all your help

2nd cake harvested today and fan setup.
little pic for show:

So just for confirmation, a day or 2 drying via the fan then place in glass sealed jar with desiccant (not touching) this should do the trick eh?
