Few questions about fruiting BRF cakes
    #17308425 - 11/30/12 11:21 AM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Lets get straight to the point...

1. How fast should the water evaporate/absorb from cakes after misting?

2. Does problem as excessive fanning exists? what are its symptoms?

3. Does cracks/warts/deformations of primordia relate more to genetic problem or environmental factors?

Your cakes will tell you what they need. Fuzzy stems? More fanning. cracked and dry looking? More humidity. The water will evaporate very slowing if the humidity is right.

well thats the problem.... i first saw most of my primordia cracked/warted/deformed so i thought it was too dry... began to do more misting but then i noticed aborts and black spots on pins so i turned the misting down ... and now i am seeing pins that look exactly like they should, but the problem is that on some cakes the water evaporate real fast while on some it tends to stay there quite long, which would increase abort rates

Did you soak your cakes for 24 hours before putting them in your FC?

you may want to do them for 24 in the future, perhaps they are not moist enough.
