Naturally Removing Tree Stumps
    #17307463 - 11/30/12 06:44 AM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Seems many people have tree stumps, more and more often as more hurricanes blow in.  I learned how to do this from a Tibetan Lama.

He would go collect Cepes from the park (I only recommend if you are used to identifying edibles), and then he would lay them out to dry on his tree stump.  In only two years his tree stump grew into mushroom yields a number of times, broke down, and was added to the lawn.

So I took some old Rishi dowels that I kept in my fridge, and drilled a pine stump from a downed tree. I drilled it all over for dowels inches apart.  Then I wrapped the stump in weed block. That was it.  I forgot about it, and six months later a huge Rishi mushroom poked out from the bottom of the stump from under the weed block.

Anyway, it has been about a year since then. I haven't bothered checking under the weed block yet.  It's not like I need to remove the stump.  But YMMV.  Best wishes on your downed tree. Here's a natural way to remove it, and get some shrooms from it.  Obviously any wood loving shrooms will take.

Any ganoderma sp.  is a great choice IMO.
I personally would hand water the stump every 3 or so days if it doesn't rain.
It would greatly speed up the process and it will fruit more readily.

Another great use for fungi.
