incubator questions

So I cant a thread on this anywhere. I have 8 BRF jars that are maybe 30% colonized. they recently halted and I have not seen any new growth in a few days. I am almost certain is it due to the low temps in my place (68 degrees on average). I would like to know if I can put them in an incunbator now or if the rapid change in temp would do something to hurt them.

Uh... 68°f is fine for jars.
GE problem perhaps?

I dont think its GE... theres nothing that would have caused a GE issue. no tape or foil on the jars

How long has it been since you inoculated them and about how far along are they?
Optimal temps are mid 70s throughout the whole grow, but anywhere from 68F-80F is acceptable.
Incubation is outdated unless temps in the range stated above cannot be kept.
The inside of the jar is always a few degrees warmer than the outside because the mycellium produces heat..mycellium tends to stall at temps above 86F , and contams thrive.

It sounds contaminated. 68F is below ideal, but it won't stop colonizing. I've fully colonized brf jars down in the 40s, where it takes about two to three months. RR

I inoculated them about 3.5 weeks ago. it took 2.5 weeks to see any signs of germination keep in mind.

If your heat is 68 degrees or higher, I wouldn't incubate. At most the cold will slow growth a bit in winter. Turn the heat up...

Pics? Nice clear closeups preferably otherwise no one can begin to determine whether or not contam is an issue or not.
It has been PROVEN that warmer temps colonize quicker than sub 70s. I have always incubated at 80F and that temp has always worked great for me.

so this is my most colonized jar. It might not be a great pic but there is no apparent mold. and its actually quite rizomorphic.

Since you used the wrong jars, there's a good chance that's the problem. Tall jars like that end up with the BRF and verm at the bottom more compacted and harder to colonize. Combine that with the lack of air getting down there and you have an environment that's not very friendly to myc. Let those go a lot longer and when they finally get 100% colonized and you wait a week for consolidation, birth them, throw away the jars, and get the right ones.

Outline the rhizos in marker...in a week you will know if they are stalled or not.

I outlined the mycelium in marker and it has grown about 1cm in a day. so it has not stalled. thank you all for the wonderful advice!
