History
    #1729890 - 07/19/03 12:27 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

Studying American History is kind of like tripping and having all these suppressed emotions and memories suddenly brought to the surface.

On the outside we always try and look good. We turn our bloody shirts inside out so the next generation may not know of certain atrocities... dark times in their homeland. Tales of villiany and greed perpetuated by the leaders of our nation. Such things are more like whispers from a crazy old man, rather than the cold hard truth that it is.

I like the little bullets cartoon version on "Bowlling for Columbine" documentary.

I LOVE the Bowling Cartoon... "I loves ma gun"
control is had by putting people in fear.  If you are scared, you think irrationally.  Someone says something; it becomes fact.

It's not just the US though, Canada has some shit to be ashamed of, as does most of the rest of the world. :nonono:

As funny and "revealing" as it was, Bowling for Columbine was chockful of rhetoric and polemical edits. Even if you agree with Moore, you must still question why he feels it necessary to skew his "documentaries".

yeah, I didn't really see why moore chose to pull that shit on heston.... all the comparative statistics show clearly that the guns themselves are not the problem, it's the psycho americans. so what's so bad about heston? he hasn't killed anyone (to my knowledge). shouldn't moore be attacking psychology?

he doesn't because he is willing to "chasm-jump" (to use a swami term) from psycho's killing people to taking away non psycho's liberties, and of course because addressing the actual root cause (americans=crazy) it way to much for moore to get a handle on.

I think heston is just a symbol to a relatively large group, just like manson is. Moore pick on heston because of what he represents both on the imaginary of his several characters (i.e. Moses, Planet of the apes) and what he truly represents, more guns, support NRA.
I tried to understand the social behavior of people listening to heston message, they seem converted by some kind of religion: the religion of guns, and sure he is a good preacher. He tries to pull that Moses stuff and he really is successful at it.
Not that i truly like all the manson message but it really looks more true, humble and caring than hestons message.
