Light Cycle
    #1727880 - 07/18/03 02:29 PM (20 years, 8 months ago)

I was wondering if anyone has experimented with a 24 hour light cycle? Non-stop light from birthing to harvest? What are the results?

This section is a short section, because there is not much to it.
As long as there is a window in the room, there will be sufficient light for your mushrooms to grow. In fact all your mushrooms really need is a few minutes of light a day to grow. All they need the light for is to know which way is up so they know which way to grow, but the amount of light given will not affect wether you get mushrooms or not.

The heigth of your mushrooms will also not be determined by the amount of light provided. Sometimes mushrooms will grow longer if they have less light.

hmmmm it took 3 days when it takes me 5 days with 23 hours of dark. When I gave it 12/12 hours of light they took alot longer and they never grew as big and I tried it with different strains too.I found the more light you give them the slower they grow and the fruits are not as big.can you tell me your findings when you tried that tek

I think that oen of the problems with this discussion si that noone is isolating the variable of light. While one person might have had wonderful growth at 24 hours of light, another might not have. However, the first person could have been using a constant air exchange system, and the second might not have. I know that I left the lifhts on in my terrarium one time accidentally for 2 days (no pins showing) and when I Came back, I had the five biggest ufcking shrooms I have ever seen in my life. *Shrug* experimentation is in order!

I don't believe mushrooms will grow to the full capabilty with 24 hours of light and I think they would grow slow as hell

It was the third flush, maybe that had something to do with it. But I know that it happened. Total light, from nothing to about 9 inches in under 3 days. *shrug* maybe it was something else, I dunno

This grow had continuous lighting. It is one of my most successfull harvests from the substrate used.

here's something to read from TMC book

Quote:

A few hours of light per day is all that is needed, 10 hours is probably a overkill. ( the book Mushroom Cultivator states that 12-16 hours of light is recommended, but the experience shows that much less is sufficient).
