Azurescens OD...???
    #17293884 - 11/27/12 09:53 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

after all, 'tis the season

So I harvested  a few wild specimens.  It looked like a huge haul when I held them all fresh.  but it dried out to about 3 grams, minus the spores and the stem butts.

I saved all the spores and butts.  The butts went onto soaked cardboard sandwiches stacked in a small bread pan with saran wrap over the top.  I open it about every other day or so and have a peek and FAE.

At first nothing much happened and then a few days later I began to see a tiny bit of cottony white mycelium beginning to form....  and now the cottony white stuff is creeping a bit and eating through the other side of the cardboard.

My plan was to allow the mycelium to continue on the cardboard until rhizomorphic then tear or cut up the cardboard and spawn several jars of pasteurized alderwood shavings.  Then spawn the jars to a bulk bag or bin.  then spawn the bulk onto an outdoor bed in the spring.

So my question is how long should I let the mycelium continue on the cardboard and should I maybe feed them something else??  Like LME or Honey water or anything??

please let me know, this is my first attempt with the azzie's

well I have no experience with Azzie's but if it where  me,  I would take a sample of the  mycelium and transfer it to some antibiotic agar and then once it is colonized inoculate some grain. but like I said I have no experience.

Doing good so far once the cardboard is colonized you can take half of it and put it in the bottom of a tote, fill with fresh chipped hardwood (soaked) and top with the other half of the colonized cardboard you can then attempt to fruit indoors or spawn to an outdoor bed In spring ( recommended )

If it's still above freezing, you might be better off to stick the cardboard into some sawdust outdoors.  It's hard to keep something like that indoors all winter without it getting moldy.

Thanks RR I will see what I can do...  I could pasteurize a few bags of alder chips in a bin and spawn the cardboard onto that once it has run through the cardboard.

the spots of cottony mycelium are becoming rhizomorphic now.  it's been about 2 weeks or so now
