Too much Parafilm?

I was wrapping the Kim-Caps onto the tubes with Parafilm on a batch of slants this afternoon that I had cut a little too long. After wrapping a few tubes with six or eight rounds, I started thinking: I've never ask or heard of how much Parafilm is too much. Anyone know?

I have heard that Parafilm allows for a small amount of gas exchange so it might make sence not to wrap quite that many layers around the kimkaps. That said I have kept slants with screw caps cranked down tight for months with no apparent harm to the Myc. I guess the real question is whether they remain viable longer with or without ge

I'm going to email Brand GMBH, maker of Parafilm. They have produced this pdf on Parafilm, but it's mostly and advertisement brochure. I did glean this information from the brochure:
Physical properties Toxicity: non-toxic Melting point: 60 °C Flash point: 301 °C Temperature range (continuous use): -45 °C to +50 °C Stretching ability: 200% Elongation at tear: 300% Gas permeability in 24 hours at 23 °C with 50% relative humidity: O2 (oxygen): ≤ 350 cm3/m2 N2 (nitrogen): ≤ 105 cm3/m2 CO2 (carbon dioxide): ≤ 1100 cm3/m2 Water vapor permeability in 24 hours at 37 °C and 90% relative humidity: 0.8 g/m2
Storability PARAFILM® M can be stored for at least 3 years without loss of quality under storage condition between 7 °C and 32 °C and a relative humidity of 50%.
I'll report back when I get a reply.

3 wraps tops, in excess is waste, waste not want not. I make hundreds of cultures a year and use the 2" parafilm, I buy a roll every 3 years give or take

I only wrap my petris once and haven't really seen a problem. I'm pretty new to agar though so maybe I should start wrapping a 2nd time?

When I was at Aloha, they taught us to always wrap petri dishes twice around, but I observed them wrapping the heck out of slants so I thought nothing of doing it myself until the other day.
BTW, nothing back from the manufacturer, Brand GMBH, yet.

Wrapping a second time sounds like a good idea. I always just wrap once to save parafilm, but sometimes the parafilm breaks on the edge of the dish if it's pulled too tight. I've had a couple contams from the dish accidentally opening up when moving them around because the seal had broken. As long as the parafilm holds however, one wrap is sufficient to guard against contams.

I prefer to use permeable culture tubes. After colonizing, I just close them and seal it with a 2in strip of Parafilm. The stuff stretches like no other so no need to waste.
I've had the same roll for about a year so far and work with agar 3-4times a week.
