Alcohol Extraction of Psilocybin from BRF cakes. What went wrong?

So... All in all 26mL of a 100ml solution that began from 200g of dried BRF cakes and double extracted to 500ml was consumed . An hour after consumption I fell asleep. My friends had considerably smaller doses and stayed up at the party and said they felt some tingling in their fingers and a noticeable mood enhancement. I am super bummed that I didn't get the effects I was looking for. So what went wrong? Here are my thoughts. 1. I did not extract in the hot water bath long enough. I extracted for 1 hour when I've read of people extracting for 4-7 hours. 2. Perhaps the psilocybin was rendered ineffective from heat? 3. I used 75% Ethanol rather than 95%?
Any scientists or experienced people out there care to hypothesize?
A chemical engineer friend of mine wonders if psilocybin is more soluble in ethanol or water. He wonders if since most of the alcohol is evaporated away maybe the psilocybin precipitated because it was not as solubal in water?

There isn't a lot of psilocybin in the actually BRF cake so in order to extract whats in there a stronger alcohol should have been used. If you want to extract psilocbyin wait till mushrooms go and then go from there. No reason to waste a cake!

Quote:
The isolation of psilocybin seemed to be quite reasonable. This alkaloid is reasonably soluble in boiling water from which it can be nicely crystallized. It is less soluble in boiling methanol, and almost insoluble in boiling ethanol. And the extraction efficiency is optimum with methanol and almost as good with ethanol. With both, the less water present, the better. The compound is, after all, a perfect example of a zwitterion, the internal salt of a phosphoric acid and an amine base.

So that is the tek I used to gain information and I believe the same tek I used in practice just copied and pasted to the shroomery boards. I know this tek IS possible with cakes because in my original documentation, the author used cakes and claimed he never wanted to grow mushrooms again. The guy was so amazed by the cake extraction he just wanted to do that.

Just read another post by RR saying he doesn't like the extraction discussions in this forum. Sorry about that. Would, however, love to get his advice as he has been quoted as saying he really enjoyed his extraction. So if you see this RR please let me know what you think before you shut it down! Thanks.

This thread has been closed.
Reason: I think you'd be far better to grow mushrooms and eat them. Cakes have nothing to extract. There may be a bit of psilocin, but it degrades too fast to extract and save at home. Psilocybin is nearly non-existent in substrates-being produced by tertiary mycelium. RR
