These sharks have picked up an interesting habit of sucking the fish right out of the nets...but I guess they get a little greedy and go into the nets and need to be cut free by divers.

Whale sharks are truly amazing animals to swim along side with. Good to hear the divers freed it from the nets.
It seems that more and more wild animals are relying on scavenging behavior.

Have you swum with them? Where at? I was in Utila off of Honduras last summer to dive and it was off-season, but I was really hoping I was going to get to see one up close. Unfortunately I didn't, lots of dolphins and other shark sightings though! props to the divers for an amazing rescue, and what a cool video!

Sea of Cortez (Baja CA, Mexico) - Near Bahia De Los Angeles (9 Hour Drive South of San Diego)
The W.S. we snorkeled/dove with were not full grown, but sill the size of our small boat.
Baja-Sea of Cortez has some amazing wildlife (Orcas, Grey Whales, Sharks, Dolphins, Sea Turtles, and Squid). In recent years, I haven't really traveled in Mexico because some areas can be unsafe for Gringos, even though most people you will meet are super friendly. Hope The Cartel (Drug) Violence will cool down in the future. There are some amazing places to explore.

Very cool!!! I have some friends of the family in San Diego and I'm headed out there for a bit over the summer, definitely gonna get some diving in off of CA but I would love to travel a little bit from there and I've been looking at the Sea of Cortez.
Safety's a concern, I'll be with friends in CA, and when I do go off on my own I'm going to connect with a dive shop wherever I end up, but other than that I'll pretty much be on my own. The violence is a shame, the last time I was in Mexico I was mainly on the Yucatan pensinsula and on Cozumel and the diving was just stellar - it's my understanding that it's fairly safe(in comparison) out that way. Some of the marine life off of the PNW was drawing my interest though, so I may just head up that way.

Wow! Cozumel must be incredible. The water is crystal blue. A safer way to travel in Baja may be taking a bus ride, flight, or tour out of TJ/SD direct.

Near SD, Coronado Islands or Catalina are great boat dives. Many times I did shore dives off La Jo lla Cove.
PNW, Gets cold and we get some big sharks that come through, but no big deal unless you are spearfishing. I don't like to dive around where seals families gather.
