Actually, it doesn't. A filter stops 'most' of the mold spores getting in or out, but they're not 100%. I've often had a jar get moldy out-of-sight near the back of a shelf, and by the time I notice it, the jars nearby also have mold right on the surface below the filter. Enough gets out through the filters and in through the filters to ruin nearby jars.
This is why moldy projects should be tossed as soon as noticed.

Sorry about the fuck rr, I was drunk and wanted to see what happened when I insulted the shroomery god. RR is an old man so I knew he wouldn't care I wanted to see how the other children would respond, I was surprised I thought you guys would shit bricks.
Back to the original post I never really worried about contaminations, I have had moldy bread it the kitchen and have done grain to grain without even spraying Lysol and I had zero contams. I get the feeling a lot of you guys like to pretend this hobby is more difficult than it is to stoke your own ego. There are so many mold spores in the air, especially where I live, that I don't think it really matters what you do. If you want to play scientist that's fine but don't create a dogma try knocking up some jars without a glove box or a hepa filter and don't flame sterilize just spray a little Lysol around your work area and you will get pretty much the same results. At least that has been my experience.
