Last Hour Options :(
    #1727429 - 07/18/03 01:20 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

Well, I hate admitting defeat, but I want to get something hopefully before contamination sets in. I've started preparing my casing mix which I will put over my straw, despite it not being fully colonized. I'm doing this because it has been over a month and the straw is not totally covered in mycellium, and from what I've heard, increases the chance of contams. I'm going to put salt over the uncolonized parts and case the mycellium covered areas and hope for the best....any last remaining options?

i recently cased my straw that appeared to have virtually no mycelium growth, a few blotches in the corner, that was after 16 days of sitting in the dark, so i said fuck it and continued on. I cased and left it sit in the dark for five days then gave it light and the next day most of the casing layer was infiltrated with mycelium... although im still not sure if this is a good thing, i haven't seen any pins yet, although its only been 4 days in the light, does this sound normal?

oh yea and i havent seen any signs of contam, and i can tell you my straw was definetly not fully colonized, so you might be fine, i dont know if id even bother with salt until you start to see green or whatever.
