WBS to Coir - Fruiting

Here is my current lab setup :P

I have 3 tubs like this with 2 trays in each.. Sat them for 14 days to colonize then just exposed them yesterday.. misted with sterile water and put under flow hood for approx 1-2min to air them out twice a day.

Here is a pic of some of the trays.. just looking for opinions, I have done pf tek fine no problems.. then i did a set of trays and it went great, but after that I have been having problems.. either no fruiting or contam.. just wondering if there is tips anyone can offer for making your trays.

Did you use the same FC for the ones that did well? The hole setup looks like it would not be enough FAE or create a convection current in the bin. Though normally with mini trays, I see a SGFC configuration, so this is new to me.
What size are those bins, and have you thought about converting them into monotubs? What's in your substrate? Did you pasteurize? Give us some more info. on how you are doing things please. My sig links might help while you wait for some feedback.

Trays were made using WBS spawn and crumbled into trays
Then added pasteurized Coco Coir to mix at about 1/3 coco to spawn ratio.. really there is allot of spawn vs coco here so i cant imagine i would have a problem.
Then let sit for 14 days covered at 75degrees room temp.
then uncovered and put in bins.
bins have perlite rehydrated and sterilized as well as bins sterilized.
the holes on side of bins are size of a dime. with polyfill inserted.
should holes be larger? they have worked in the past.. just unsure as I dont have a drill bit any larger.

The holes should definitely be larger, mine are about 2" and I have 3 on the long sides, and 1 on the short sides. I wonder whether I even have enough FAE. Otherwise as long as you're pasturization technique is good you should be set. All your problems could just be related to a lack of FAE, how often do you fan/mist?
I would also suggest doing a much lower spawn ratio. There's really no need to use such a high amount of spawn to coir, mushies like coir too so why not give them more nutrients? You'll probably get better yields.

You didn't say anything bout your temps or i missed it, make sure your in the right range for your species and fully colonized before trying to initiate fruiting. Your FAE does look restricted, fanning is simpler than a complex setup, fan more, and maybe take out that polyfil from the holes in your tub or make more or larger holes, contam risks are biggest in the beginning of your run so chances are you picked up something before the time that you put them in your fruiting chamber.

I think you might be right, that could be why I was having a hard time in the past.
I got a 2inch hole cutter in the garage that just seemed way to big. I fan and mist 2-3 times a day since I'm home all day but would be nice to not have to pay as much attention.
There on day 2 fruiting so its not like I would be seeing pins yet anyways.
I will pickups some more tubs to make better holes.
Here is my tub dimensions, what are yours?
14 1/2" Width x 17 3/4" Length x 10 7/8" Height
I am curious

I'm gonna go get a 1.5inch to 2 inch cutter for my drill, and a new set of better poly-fill and see how things improve..
I believe that's my shortfall right now.
I will update when I have things corrected.
Should be a few days before I see something good ;P I hope.

My setup is kinda a jerry rig, i use jars to fruiting for minimal space use (still in my rents place) and i have a plastic sterilite shelf with 3 14L x 12w x 10h shelves for a chamber. Blued semi transparent plastic makes for easy and almost direct lighting. I keep my light low to make shorter fruits and i like side fruiting on my cakes so thats a plus for my short space. I don't have anything in right now though, my latest spores i do believe experienced thermal death during shipping.

1.5inch holes right above where perlite would be and poly fill in there..
is there a certain snugness to the polyfill i should go for or just make sure its in there?
thx

Polyfill should be as tight as possible during colonization/consolidation and as loose as possible during fruiting. And IMO, put one more hole near the top on each of your short sides, forming a triangle shape. Or if you have two tubs like the one pictured, try this with one of them and see the difference, if any.

atleast i am getting better and better at identifying the way trich grows before turning green.. it has very distinct signal formations lol

How are you pasteurizing? What's in your substrate? What's your spawn ratio? Do you have any pics of spawn you've got going?
Work through these "mistakes." This is how you learn what works and what doesn't.

What flush are the trays on when you lose your trays to trick?
